Before this issue started, the car had zero problems.

In late December, before leaving for vacation, I connected my Type R to a battery charger so the battery wouldn’t die. The car has two known battery drains:
• oil temp gauge (always on)
• 360° camera system

When I got back later in December, the battery was dead. After charging it and starting the car, the dash lit up with multiple error messages. I searched online and saw that this can happen after a dead battery and usually clears after driving 70–100 miles.

I’ve now driven well over 100 miles and the errors are still there.

I checked with an OBD2 scanner and Hondata and there are no stored codes.

1/16/2026 – Took the car to Honda dealership and left it there for 4 days. They attempted to clear the errors but refused to troubleshoot further because the car is heavily modified.

1/23–1/24/2026 – Continued troubleshooting myself:

  • Installed a brand-new Duralast Platinum battery (no change)
  • Disconnected the negative battery terminal, pressed the brake to drain residual power, and left it disconnected for 1 hour
  • Reconnected and drove 10 minutes at 20–40 mph (errors still present)
  • Disconnected power to the 360° camera
  • Drove ~70 miles afterward — errors still didn’t clear
At this point, I’m out of ideas.

Has anyone run into this before? Any idea what could be causing it or what I should check next?

There are multiple modules to scan. What module(s) did you scan? I assume only ECU/ECM as that seems to be a fairly generic ODB2 scanner. The error screens present looks to be VSA related (ABS module, TCM, etc), and not going to show up on ECU scan as far as codes go.

Not sure if this will help

Yup makes sense actually. And you driving 100 miles doesnt automatically mean it goes through complete drive cycles meaning mileage, ignition cycles, and time. How many times have you driven the car within the 100 miles? As I only see 2 I/M readiness monitors complete.

I’ve driven the car well over 100 miles total and also disconnected and reconnected the battery multiple times because the errors kept showing up. When I said I drove it more than 100 miles, I meant I drove about 70 miles, turned the car off, then drove another 70 miles, turned it off again, and later drove another 50 miles.

Recently, I disconnected and reconnected the negative terminal again and drove another 70 miles. I plan to drive it another 70 miles tomorrow.

Do I need to drive it 100 miles in one continuous drive for the errors to clear?

Thanks for the reply.

Its not continuous, try multiple short trips instead of one long trip

Was the battery charger still operating when you got back from vacation? Any chance there was a power surge or lightening strike while you were gone? If you had "no issues" prior to this it's likely something was fried.

I don’t think it’s the battery since I was able to recharge it and drive the car fine when I got back. I swapped in a new battery just for peace of mind. Honda didn’t say it was the battery either. They confirmed something is draining it fast, and it looks like the 360 camera, so I unplugged that for now.

Maybe reflash your tune?
A JSR tune is just a Hondata calibration file. It does not control:
ADAS modules
Cameras
BCM
EPS / VSA
Radar cruise
CAN gateway logic
My issue is dash errors after battery death, the tune is probably not the root cause.
Correct my if my logic is wrong?

I have just had similar lights after a reflash and they usually go away after driving. Figured starting fresh with a cleared tune might be worth a shot

If your car was connected to the battery charger while you were gone, how did the battery still die?
