Multiple Errors After Dead Battery – Type R (No Codes, Won’t Clear)

If your car was connected to the battery charger while you were gone, how did the battery still die?

I had a cheap Amazon charger that I didn't realize stopped charging once the battery was full. I've since bought a new charger that no longer has that issue.

Checked with the Honda dealership and they confirmed this is normal behavior on newer Hondas. If the battery dies, the car typically needs to be brought in. It’s all fixed now. posting the video here in case it helps anyone else.

How much did it cost? Does that mean we won't be able to change the battery ourselves without making a trip to the dealership?

Battery swap should not be a problem with triggering codes. Sounds like the existing battery was too depleted over time where other modules were not receiving the minimum expected voltage for communications.

Were you using the OEM battery or a lithium ion? How old was the battery?

I’ve spent a total of $450 across two Honda dealerships. The first one couldn't figure out the issue but still charged me $225. I then took it to a second dealer who charged another $225 and finally fixed it.

I replaced my 2 yr old OEM battery because it started causing errors.
Although, I could still drive the car after charging it but with christmas light dashboard error. swapped it out for a Duralast Platinum H5-EFB battery for peace of mind.
