Yes! ? The manuals are basically generic Civic manuals with gray box blurbs sprinkled throughout for the Type R. It’s just that they forgot some important gray boxes for 2023. Glad they made improvements.?
US FL5’s don’t have all the same features as those in other countries. The FL5 is more expensive in other countries too, particularly in EU. It’s a marketing strategy. In the US, if you want more luxury features, you have the option to get an Integra Type S. The ITS isn’t available in other...
Manufacturing tolerances were not as tight back then and oil technology has improved. I don’t know of any cars that ran W20 back then, let alone synthetic. W30 was even considered remarkably “thin” dino oil.
There’s no argument. He literally says “doing an oil change earlier won’t hurt nor improve anything.” This means, if you want to do it early, cool! If you want to wait and follow the MM or 1 yr interval, cool!
I think this tracks with the general recommendation that many here have adopted : Do...
It’s 1000 kms (~620 mi). It is recommended in some owner’s manuals (EU and Japan at least), but does not appear in the in the US owner’s manual. No one knows why, but there’s definitely some weird info omissions / inconsistencies in the US manuals. As such, the general recommendation is to...
A friend of mine had Katzkin done on his S2000 interior. It looks great. Might be a good option for you. https://katzkin.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjqWzBhAqEiwAQmtgT896lyEp1CopCTgNlQpcwhcMBZ0QQ1jakQ6Qep5osUhzZaBWxEnNmBoCMNYQAvD_BwE
Right. I think the OP is referring to the mid-model “facelift” FL5, which usually happens after a model has been out a couple of years. This is normal. Refer the FK8 release vs facelift FK8
Yep. If there was going to be any meaningful updates (especially within the next month) we all KNOW this info would be a headline here before the dealership had a clue.
I’ve also heard this, but I have yet to see anything that substantiates this claim. With that said, it makes sense and there’s likely some truth to it. Additionally, I think there’s likely truth to the claim that Honda uses a special break-in oil. In other words, I don’t think it’s an either/or...
It was in a press release from Porsche…which of course I can’t find it now. Paraphrasing, 2025 will be the first time a 911 has been released without a manual option. This includes all 911 models. I guess this doesn’t mean it isn’t possible they’ll have a manual later…but it sure is an ominous...
Honda said that the FL5 is the last purely ICE Type-R, so it makes sense that the 1.5t Si is the last of its kind as well. With the next gens of these vehicles becoming hybrids, I think the writing is on the wall that they won’t have manual transmissions either. Look at what Porsche did...
Yep. And the dealership will charge you $5 per lug nut (last I checked) if you’re in a situation where you need an OEM lug nut. In today’s economy I wouldn’t be surprised if they charge $10 for “Type R” lug nuts.
That’s annoying. They should’ve given you a key if you got wheel locks. Are you sure they didn’t put the key in the “spare tire” compartment, maybe? This is another topic, but most wheel locks are pointless. There are a couple of brands of locks that are actually effective. Common wheel locks...
@xpeng
In US owners manuals it says the lug nuts should be torqued to 80 ft lbs. This is the correct spec for all Civics except the Type R. The Type R uses larger lugs which should be torqued to 94 ft lbs. Hopefully they’ve fixed this info in all manuals by now, but I don’t know...
I understand where you’re coming from. Driving manual in rush hour stop/go traffic is never fun and can get tiring (even for younger drivers). As others have said, there are times when automatics are better. This is where a 2nd vehicle (with automatic) comes in very handy. Keep your FL5 for when...
