  1. Flapfab vs Sukeban rock guards

Something to note : I got Sukebans because I liked that they are adjustable, provide great protection, and look good, without going full-rally Subaru flaps. We all know the FL5 likes to kick up debris from those fatty tires, so if you track the car or live somewhere where you may frequently...
  2. Flapfab vs Sukeban rock guards

I’m not familiar with Flapfab, but have Sukebans. I’m happy with them, however I had to go to AutoZone to get different fasteners. The fasteners that came with the guards were too short. Here’s what I found to work well. You only need 2 of these (one for each front guard). On the left is the...
  3. RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF?

Ah OK. THAT’s how you know! Appreciate your honesty. It’s helpful for the discussion. @Modular Cal So far I have managed not to stall mine, but I’m sure I will at some point. I’ve been driving manual for over 20 years, but every now and then I goof. It happens. NBD Anyway, sounds like we’ve...
  4. RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF?

Yeah, that part is normal. The thing about the op’s car shutting off right after starting, indeed, sounds like he stalled it, as @Modular Cal said…though the op mentions a security light flashing? Not sure what that’s about, unless this is what happens when stalling.
  5. Issue with rev match turned off on FL5

Yeah, you shouldn’t need to rev match upshifts. The only reason one would need to do this is if: 1. They granny shift (shift too slow). 2. They are shifting too early and not revving enough to necessitate a shift to begin with. 3. They missed a shift and need to (re)rev.
  6. RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF?

No car I’ve owned before has done this, so this would be new and surprising to me too, had @abracadaniel_ not posted. The following conditions have to be met for the car to completely turn off after ~20 mins: - A door has been opened, such as when leaving the vehicle. - The driver’s seatbelt...
  7. Question About Trade-In Condition

If you can, sell it privately. My local dealership made me a truly laughable offer on my very well cared for, single owner, FA5. What puzzled me was that they were totally, straight-faced, serious too and acted confused why I didn’t take their offer. ? The assessor only glanced at my car, then...
  8. About the surprise after removing the exhaust valve fuse, it's not just the sound.

Here’s the original fuse pull thread by Topher: https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/fl5-stock-exhaust-valve-fuse-pulled-always-open-exterior-sound-clips.51819/ It has been speculated that the valve is there to provide some back pressure during start-up and low idle. Read in this thread. AWE...
  9. EPR Wing.

Yeah, with Mugen etc. you’re paying for authenticity, design, engineering and obviously well-made parts with stringent quality standards. I’m not a fan of knock-offs of any sort, though it is possible for them to be materially as good as the big name stuff ; Fit and finish is likely to have more...
  10. PRL Motorsports Titanium Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Kit for the 2023+ FL5 Civic Type-R is Now Available!

“High Volume Intake fitment to be offered once our HVI system is available.”
  11. Mirror cap question (picture)

Slight manufacturing variation is always going to happen, especially with molded plastic parts. It’s fine.
  12. Solution to the scratches on the gloss black trim

Very nice! My gloss black trim pieces, especially those on the pillars were scratched up from day 1. My detailer put Xpel black PPF on them and it looks great.
  13. Making front map lights useful

He means just the omission of such a useful yet mundane feature is odd…especially since it doesn’t apparently cost more. It’s a head scratcher. Maybe they did it so they have something useful to add to the 2024 FL5’s? Lol
  14. FL5 Type R vs DE5 Integra Type S | Savagegeese

Yeah, those are typically the 2 main reasons. Otherwise we’d maybe be on the other side of the fence with more power under the hood, but also dealing with things like blown head gaskets…cough, cough, Focus RS. It’s a balance and I appreciate Honda’s tendency to be technically on-point, if rather...
  15. FL5 Type R vs DE5 Integra Type S | Savagegeese

Though there are different octane rating systems, unleaded fuel is largely the same worldwide. I think they tuned the ITS more aggressively just so there’s at least some slight product differentiation compared to the CTR…and to make the price tag slightly easier to swallow.
  16. Active Dampers too stiff on FL5. Disabled with Damping Cancellation Kit

I theorize that Honda developed the FL5’s ADS for Japanese roads and tracks first, despite that it’s a global car. Whereas the ITS’s ADS was developed for NA only…with our terrible streets and roads more closely considered.
  17. FL5 Adaptive Sound Control and Active Exhaust Valve Discussion

It makes sense that comfort mode would turn the ASC off (though we know Honda can make odd choices sometimes). Comfort is intended to be the most quiet. So any added sound is counterintuitive. If I can remember, next time I go for a drive I’ll put my phone’s mic next to the driver’s side A...
  18. FL5 Adaptive Sound Control and Active Exhaust Valve Discussion

@urbo73 I don’t know for certain. I’ve kept the engine sound on Comfort mode since almost day 1, because I hate it. It’s not just the fakeness of the actual sounds, but I can tell that the sound is coming from the speakers and not from the car. It’s completely unnatural. But anyway…If there’s...
  19. Torque Steer

@Cornercarver I bought the one that @mbaapk recommended a couple of posts back. Your description sounds very much like what I bought. Of course I bought the yellow one (the least expensive) because why would I pay $10 more for just a different color? But if they had a carbon fiber version, THAT...
