  1. What is a good first mod?

I don't think a $50k daily driver is the place to start learning how to mod. Just a thought. Fortunately these cars are so good from the factory that there isn't an overwhelming need to mess around with them. So my suggestion would be to either keep things very simple, or find a good shop to do...
  2. Two Days, 100 Miles: My Initial Dive into FL5 Ownership

I'm kind of doubling down on autocross this season. It's just easier on me and the car, and arguably just as fun... with limited to no possibility of catastrophic events. The events are also cheaper and more frequent, and I can justify not spending an extra couple hundred on track insurance too...
  3. Two Days, 100 Miles: My Initial Dive into FL5 Ownership

I did the cardinal sin of going to a track day with completely stock everything, including pads and fluid. The car handled it wonderfully (I have an ITS). The brakes were fine until the very end of the 2nd session, on a 75-degree day at Dominion Raceway in Richmond, VA, they started showing...
  4. PointByPatrol #21985 Build Journal! RIP #9243

That does suck and is bad business. What are they there for then? The problem for me though is seeing some of these quotes from Hagerty makes me laugh then cry. I'd never go to the track if I was stuck with paying Hagerty $1k+ per event.
  5. PointByPatrol #21985 Build Journal! RIP #9243

It has the caption from the show in it but you get the point. Kidding aside, thanks for that breakdown, I found it helpful and not at all surprising. Another way to look at it from a software sales perspective is if a customer tries to buy licenses for 50k endpoints and their organization...
  6. PointByPatrol #21985 Build Journal! RIP #9243

End of the day insurance is a business. They exist solely to make as much money as possible. They are not your friends. Insurance is the most intentionally obscure, scummiest, shadiest "business" this side of a drug cartel. I find it hard to believe that Hagerty would be any different.
  7. Is it just me, or is the aftermarket for the FL5 kind of lame?

I don't think we'll ever get close to the golden age of thumbing through Sport Compact Car/Super Street/Import Tuner magazines and having every other page plastered with aftermarket parts. Those days are long gone, and honestly as someone I think alluded to already, we shouldn't necessarily pine...
  8. Random first-day impressions...

I always think of pictures like this whenever I feel the car is big: As for how fast it is, it's not mind-bendingly fast, no. But IMO, it's plenty adequate for anything you'll need to be doing on the street. As I mentioned earlier I came from a much faster car and I only rarely feel like I...
  9. Random first-day impressions...

Eh, I'm a little concerned now lol. I can tell you straight out the gate, my ITS felt wonderful even below 4k rpm. FWIW the car my ITS replaced was a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. No, I didn't expect the Integra to fully match the driving experience of that car. But in many ways, it exceeded my...
  10. Random first-day impressions...

Yeah if it's a dash rattle disregard. But I will point out that at its worst, I could feel the buzz from my wastegate through the pedal and it felt like it reverberated through the cabin. I will also say that it didn't stay that severe for very long, so whoever suggested it doesn't get better...
  11. Questions for the K20C1 engine experts here.

Fair enough I suppose, but possibly there just isn't enough sample size with these motors reaching the level of usage/mileage to where they'll start exhibiting this behavior. Maybe ping the guy from EE to see if he'll do the legwork on the research for this topic. He's covered a shitload of...
  12. Questions for the K20C1 engine experts here.

Indeed. How's that working out for you, in this sea of experts? edit- before I "burn another bridge" with yet another forum member that hates me, I'm just saying that your questions are fair, but your expectations are probably not. I just don't think that the type of person who actually knows...
  13. Random first-day impressions...

Yeah this is normal. The consensus on the forums is that it's an aftereffect of the electronic wastegate- some will even try to tell you it's normal for all modern turbo cars, which is a fallacy. Apparently it's a K20C thing, but it does date back to the FK8. Personally I think the intensity of...
  14. Questions for the K20C1 engine experts here.

For questions like this, yes. Might as well shut it all down. Burn it to purge the evil lies too. Seriously this whole conversation is about hearsay. I'm not sure why there's an expectation that some imaginary "experts" exist that somehow know the science of this specific engine better than...
  15. Questions for the K20C1 engine experts here.

Looking for answers to problems that don't exist, in a place with no formal validity?
  16. Honda's "ceramic coating" vs Bird poop

Bird droppings should be removed immediately, I don't care what coating you think you have to protect it- things like this can and will happen, and yes a sunny 79 degree day could cause permanent damage in a matter of seconds TBH... Also, I'm not completely convinced the wing undergoes the same...
  17. Waste Gate Rattle Noise

My guess is a little bit of everything. Injectors have a distinctive "tick" sound, but the rest of the valvetrain is just a conglomeration of rotating metal pieces effectively crashing into each other constantly at high speed with just a thin layer of oil to separate them... Since the mic in...
  18. Waste Gate Rattle Noise

Yeah the valvetrain is extra noisy in this video because the microphone is right next to the valve cover. The noise is accentuated heavily in the video but essentially all the noise you're hearing that isn't the wastegate noise is the valvetrain. Some cars just have noisy valvetrains; the K20C1...
  19. Went in for an oil change... drove out with a Boost Blue 2024 Civic Type R

Sounds like they really didn't want to let go of that Motocompacto. Enjoy the CTR!
  20. C&D Lightning Lap Series: The Hottest Cars on America's Toughest Track

Yeah it's a sort of strange position that C&D takes where they will only permit cars to use tires that are theoretically "available OEM"... and they end up shooting themselves in the foot sometimes like they did with the M3 CS where they couldn't even get the right tires in time for the event...
