  1. Bleed Clutch Slave Master Cylinder

Also, the bleed nipple wrenches I use are only about 3 inches long. I never over torqued nipples using these.
  2. Bleed Clutch Slave Master Cylinder

I've used a Mityvac bleeder (mine looks like MV8000) since the '80's on many cars and motorcycles. Mityvac can go slow, which is important on small reservoirs.
  3. Has anyone ever adjusted their OEM shifter cables?

I've replaced clutches on other cars and the linkages didn't require adjustment. I rebuilt my 911 transaxle and made adjustments inside the transmission, but not to the shift linkage. The shift pattern is normally the result of transmission internals and not shift lever gates (like old 308...
  4. Removing Downpipe Studs

The host of YouTube "Gears and Gasoline" replaced his turbo studs. Plenty of screeching noise as they were removed. He was lucky none broke. I've spent hours repairing broken studs on other cars. Between chancing this and locked ECU's after tuning, I'm leaving mine stock. If I wanted...
  5. Transmission & Coolant Plug Washers

I think you'll find very little coolant left in the block after emptying the radiator and heater core. I've drained the block on a couple Honda's and decided it's not worth the effort. If the coolant was contaminated, yes, but otherwise no.
  6. Anyone rocking an AliBaba Exhaust?

The problem with China is the various factories copy cat each other (not just western factories). Some Chinese firms produce decent quality, but others only look the same from afar. I saw this first hand when living there.
  7. Fl5 Vibration!!! Part 2

I would only install Honda bearings. I've never worn out Honda bearings. Unlike VW/Porsche/Audi and Subaru's, where they regularly wearout and are no fun to replace.
  8. Rock at rotor shield? Only scarping at turn, especially left turn

On another car i owned, track rated pads would scrape in the first few turns and make this noise.
  9. Fl5 Vibration!!! front left driver side

I've experienced the same thing with loose plastics: My son used to nose his Fit into a dirt bank while parking at work. He went away to college without his car, so I'd drive it to work every couple weeks to keep the battery charged and fluids moving. Lots of noise, as though the tires were...
  10. Show your % of tint on your FL5

Tint will distort images compared to just looking through glass. My eyes are good and I prefer to identify objects (police, road hazards, etc.) through the windshield (police, road hazards, etc.) well before I get there. I can see the distortion looking through tint on my rear window. I live...
  11. Anyone Running This Snorkel?

The intake airflow pinch point is under the front of the hood at the airbox entrance. I wouldn't recommend ducting through there, as it could further reduce the flow area. It's not clear where this duct is routed. Similar snorkels were offered for my FR-S and S2000. I tried both but wasn't...
  12. Are spacers that bad?

Yes, they will wear out components faster and may induce torque steer. But depending how you drive, it may never affect you. Similar to lifted trucks, it's worse for the truck, but it might be 150k miles before something wears out.
  13. Fl5 Civic Type R Engine Oil and Coolant

I use 5W-30 synthetic oil. The higher viscosity is better for bearing life. For coolant, I've used Prestone in my Honda's for nearly a million total miles without problems. The Prestone I use says it is for "all cars". It's green color vs Honda's blue, but the two seem compatible. I used to...
  14. Mike's 2023 Crystal Black Pearl FL5 build

I've never seen a black FL5 either, though they look awesome in pictures. Hot sun and dust conspire against black cars in AZ.
  15. Resurface Front Rotors?

Unless the rotors are no longer true or surfaces are scored from metal on metal contact, I wouldn't recommend resurfacing rotors. New pads will wear into the existing surface within a few days.
  16. New tires needed - your take?

I highly advise against mixing tire brands or models. Differences in lateral stiffness, when the rears are softer, result in very unstable handling at speed. I've experienced this problem on other cars. I believe the OEM Michelin's are stiff compared to Continentals for example.
  17. Mishimoto License Plate Relo Kit now on PRE-SALE!

I'm glad my state (AZ) only has rear plates. When I lived in CT, my S2000 never had a front plate in 15 years. The law was such that the police couldn't stop you for a missing front plate. They could add it to other offenses.
  18. New Steering Wheel Install Cause Damage?

BTW: When parts have been mated a while, fastener breakaway torque is often >2x initial torque.
  19. High Efficiency Downpipe VS Catless?

The downside of catless is the strong exhaust smell. My OEM Audi cats kept falling apart in the '80's and I wasn't paying the big $ after the warranty expired, so I ran catless. Performance difference with a "test pipe" was negligible, but exhaust smell was very noticeable. My son had a...
  20. New tires front-used rears?

Worth trying, but lift oversteer may occur. I've done the same thing before on an '87 CRX Si after cooking the fronts at a track day. Swapped to the rear and started spinning-out in autocross, but that's decades before stability control.
