We gotta work on this. More track days, and your go to topic of conversation needs to be TIRES. This is the way. It's become such a regular topic of conversation in my house that I said, "Yokohamas" yesterday, and my wife said, "you mean your A052's right?"

Wait...you all do others things besides go to the track??

Coilovers don't necessarily = faster laps -- you still need to drive it, and generally require a proper setup to be effective. For instance buying 3 ways is just silly, if you can't properly dial them in. You'll never get the actual value of them. I can see Coilovers being a more useful...

If you are going to VIR with fresh pads and rotors, you absolutely shouldn't need any spares...if you are using good equipment :). I just did Day 9 (an additional 34 laps) on the CSG C1X....and the OG Giros are still on there at half life. Was even running stickier rubber this time with A052...
  5. Paragon brake pad for 90% commuter, 10% autox/HPDE

Easy enough to skip the rears. The fronts work just fine with full OEM rear as well. The advantage is a better pad, with better control and modulation, that in turn makes it easier to learn on.
  6. Paragon brake pad for 90% commuter, 10% autox/HPDE

I'd recommend skipping Paragon and shims all together. Grab a set of the CSG CPB for Front and CP Rear. Will handle everything you throw at it as a novice and more -- https://www.counterspacegarage.com/csg-spec-brake-pads I torture tested them on track for a number of track days, and they...

Yup! That's my home track. I occasionally go to Portland, Pacific, and ORP...but Ridge definitely dominates my track time. It's just a fantastic drive, in a beautiful part of the state, and I take a Ferry to get there and back combined with a great canal drive. Vibes for days

New PB yesterday on a Winter Day!

TAPS quality for GridLife 200TW and OnGrid OnGrid 200TW. They are getting scored the same way as other Super200's in NASA. They do not qualify for SCCA 200TW because of the 5/32nd tread depth at this time. I've gotten full spectrum reviews on the TAPs -- true Love vs Hate -- seems its pretty...
  10. CIVICXI *NOVICE* Track Thread!

Your stock wheels and tires are more fine -- you don't need to spend a lot of money for your first track day, or end up down a rabbit hole thinking about wheel offsets. I even ran the OE Forged Wheel for an entire season (although with a different tire) Swap your brake fluid to Castrol SRF...
  11. Do you need a Honda scan tool to change rear brake pads in a 2023 Type R?

It retracts the EPB which lets you then manually push the piston back in.
  12. EC-7 18x9.5 ET58 wheel to strut clearance picture?

Not really conservative by any stretch - it’s just prioritizing stance/flush over maximizing the suspension design. I guess it’s more conservative than +35…but that’s for a different use case.
  13. EC-7 18x9.5 ET58 wheel to strut clearance picture?

Stock specs are +60. Certain Solo (AutoX) classes restrict changes to offset to +/- 7mm.
  14. EC-7 18x9.5 ET58 wheel to strut clearance picture?

What? Stock specs are +60. Everything lower is more aggressive, not more conservative?

Even on stock power in mild temps (75*) the IATs can get pretty out of hand.

Did you make sure to reconnect the MAF sensor? Double check to make sure its seated properly. It throws an immediate code if not.

Right, but typically Tube and Fin is lighter than Bar and Plate. Look at how heavy the PRL B&P is -- it's like 26lbs. The RV6 T&F is 16.5. The PWR B&P is 12. It was just a comment saying the PWR B&P is not your run of the mill B&P option.
  18. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

There's something different with PWR's than your typical bar and plate. It also weighs less than the RV6 being bar and plate -- I believe it matches the weight of the J's at 12lbs.

Yea, I definitely get that -- our family is between MD, VA, and FL...but with the amount of daily flights out of SeaTac that are direct between both Alaska and Delta -- you can get pretty far, pretty fast and easy.

Also don't sleep on the PNW -- we shockingly have a ton of circuits in a 5 hour radius 1) Ridge 2) Pacific Raceways 3) Portland International 4) Oregon Raceway Park 5) Mission (Canada) 6) Vancouver Island (Canada) 7) Area27 (Canada)
