This is officially the largest markup I've ever seen for a new car, the 243K misprint notwithstanding. I estimate the 2022 Si invoice price(cost the dealer pays) to be between 18k-20k.
The Accord is 3K more it's probably a better car. A Civic Hatch LX is 23K but a Civic Hatch Sport is 24K if you want a Civic I'd avoid the LX and go with the Sport.
SD is right, no reason to go broke over a new car, no matter how tempting .Here in Vegas if I bought a new 30k-35k Si I'd have to pay 3k in tax/registration and to renew reg every year is outrageous too. Or I can keep on driving my 17 Si and only pay yearly registration of $350. Honestly...

This is the absolute worst time to buy a car..but, the semi-good news is that bad economic times are around the corner + late next year there will be more competition in this segment.
But back to the upcoming bad economic times(23-25?), that's the time to buy the car you want. Also, might not...
The LSD + bucket seats are huge advantages to the Si*. I'd still make sure to drive them both to see the difference could the ST hatch get close to the Si performance? probably not.
*I'm not a huge fan of leather, unless they're really nice, plus I love my current Si's bucket seats.
I got lucky as my 17 salvage was bought at auction in early 2018. I've never had to do any maint but the engine does leak about a drop of oil a day. It's saved me so much money I can't even imagine paying full price again.
Yep, the weak display is one of my biggest complaints. It's really a slap in the face by Honda trying to push everyone towards their top of the line Civic, which costs over 30K. So far the 11th Gen is a no go, I can go elsewhere or at least wait until their mid-cycle refresh.
Yes, it's tough to choose. I realize I'm going to have to compromise somewhere along the lines when buying my next car. Right now I'm thinking to place quiet at the top of my priority list, I'm getting old there's no reason to drive a loud car anymore. My 17 Si is great except for the lousy...
Fuelly says Mazda3 is 29.8 vs. Honda's 33.4 so it's not such a big difference. The Mazda3 hatch would definitely be 2nd on my list of hatches to buy, I admit I'm tired of Civic road noise it's very annoying I don't know how much better the Mazda would be. Probably can't lose with a new manual...
