Hello all! I recently found a low miles honda civic sport hatch with a 6mt and the 2.0 K20C2. So far I am loving the platform, its definitely not the fastest thing ive driven, but plenty of fun for now. I was wondering if anyone with the hatchback has had any luck fitting FL5 type R parts/body panels to the civic sports. I figured the chassis is pretty similar, looking forward to hearing more!

Oh cheese and crackers Batman! It would be an all or nothing swap. Every body part, including the hood, would have to be swapped since one piece at time would interfere with each other, except for the spoiler. You would also need the under bumper support bar and mounts and wheel spacers for the wheels since the type R is noticeably wider wheelbase. By the time you're done, the cost of it all you could have bought an actual Type R.

I'd looked into it when I had a sport as well and @ModJPB is right on the money. I think only the front doors and hatch are shared between the two, and maybe some parts of the chassis that you wouldn't really even want to swap out. Not even the front windshield is the same. The interior is a different story though.

Examples I seen of stock FL5 parts on a FL1/2:
  • wheels with 5x114.3 to 5x120 adapters
  • rear spoiler
  • rear motor mount
  • matte black dash trim
  • hood
A guy in Florida put FK8 seats his FL2. Reprogramming the electronics was needed to eliminate dashboard warning lights.

I thought the hood wasn't compatible? I remember someone posting that the cf hood from a ST didn't fit on the CTR

Maybe the examples I saw were aftermarket 🤷 I assumed they were stock FL5 because they were paint matched.
Here's one example of a few I saw online:

Yeah someone mentioned it on that post as well but there's gaps and the hood doesn't flow with the fenders since CTR fenders are wider

Sort of. It'll work, but it doesn't look good. The FL5 hood front corners are slightly shorter and the hood latch is longer. It will "fit" but the latch needs to be repositioned and fender panels adjusted, even after all that things don't line up great..
