Two weeks ago on April 7th, I acquired my Type R. Initially, I did not encounter any issues with window noise upon delivery. However, after a few days, I had Xpel Tint and PPF applied. Following this, I started to experience an excessive amount of wind noise emanating from the A pillar of the driver's window. Seeking to resolve this issue, I brought my vehicle to a Honda dealership for inspection, where the shop foreman/technician verified that the door seals were intact and suggested that the noise might be due to wind turbulence. To obtain a second opinion, I also visited a local auto shop where a technician explained that the wind could be deflecting off the trim windshield and that the driver's side mirror, which had been treated with PPF, might also be contributing to the noise. The technician recommended removing the mirror as a potential solution, but this would be a costly and time-consuming process. Have any of you experienced similar issues with excessive wind noise? It is peculiar that I do not encounter the same problem on the passenger side. Additionally, I am considering whether the xpel ppf might be the source of the wind noise, and I am currently weighing my options on what steps to take next if I need to have it removed. The wind noise is quite annoying.

My passenger side has a very slight turbulent air problem, but it only occurs windows up. Regardless the issue was likely there prior to the PPF and tinting and its more than likely related to a hard to find body panel gap. Maybe putting PPF and closing a body panel by that .1mm was enough to exacerbate.

similarly, I am faced with the same problem when the windows are closed. I am considering the possibility of removing the protective film on the side mirrors, in the hope that this will alleviate the issue.

You can probably confirm if it's mirror related by turning it/folding it in and going for a drive. Obviously be careful, but getting a different angle on it will tell you if you should play with it more. Any body panel gaps around the mirror, you can stuff something in there and retest.

It seems really odd that PPF would cause that much wind turbulence…but, I guess it’s plausible if the film is actually helping wind pass over the car’s surfaces easier at higher speeds.🤔

That's really helpful advice. I'll be sure to try it out, thank you!

I have the same issue with my totally stock car, if you find the root cause I would love to hear it.
It's intriguing to hear about the wind noise issue. Have you had a chance to take it to the dealer yet? If you did, what was their feedback?

I have not. It's not horribly bad, and I'm usually driving with music on and/or the windows down, anyways. So, I haven't been worried about it. It feels like an issue the dealer won't be able to solve just going off my past experiences with dealers.

Yeah, when I visited the dealer, they simply acknowledged it’s a wind turbulence issue and didn't offer any viable solution.

This is the same feeling I have about the issue.

I think I’m hearing the wind turbulence you’re talking about too. My car is stock. No ppf or anything. I can’t tell exactly where the noise is coming from. Sometimes it sounds like its coming from the front, near the mirror. Other times it sounds like its coming from the B pillar. Either way, I think it is what it is and there’s not much that can be done about it. Maybe window deflectors could help the aero in those areas. The Honda and Mugen deflectors look pretty nice and I’ve thought about getting one of those options.

Yeah, I've been informed by both the dealer and the local auto shop that the issue is likely caused by wind turbulence. However, to be thorough, I want to eliminate the possibility of the side mirror and ppf being the culprit. Thank you for your suggestion! I'll explore the option of a wind deflector, as it may also help alleviate the wind noise.
