The driver’s side door weather stripping has one part that’s “different” than the rest, with two notches. On the top of the door. I was worried this was an issue, but it’s been that way since the FK8. Apparently it’s where Honda joins the stripping together. It’s not like that on passenger side, just drivers side.

Just throwing this out there before anyone blames the weather stripping :)

good observation! I notice that too. Are you having same wind noise/turbulence issue?

The little notches you see on the weatherstrip there is for water/rain drip purposes when door is opened to keep water from dripping into the inside of the door/interior of car. I remember reading about someone awhile back taking their car into Honda thinking their rubber seal was torn or messed up. You also notice our rooflines don't have the water channel on them and is smooth. This notch in the rubber seal is a necessary functional aspect of the car now.

I recently noticed this from the driver's side window but only after installing the Mugen Ventilated Visors.

I think I know the source of the wind noise. See how there’s more space on the driver side, due to the wiper blade placement? The passenger side has an air dam in that area. I think more air is simply flowing thru there and/or there’s a little bit more of an wind/air pressure differential on the driver side (due to that space) than the passenger side…which is causing the audible turbulence.

do you have Tint or PPF installed? I’m so close to deciding to removing the ppf on my side mirror.
Two weeks ago on April 7th, I acquired my Type R. Initially, I did not encounter any issues with window noise upon delivery. However, after a few days, I had Xpel Tint and PPF applied. Following this, I started to experience an excessive amount of wind noise emanating from the A pillar of the driver's window. Seeking to resolve this issue, I brought my vehicle to a Honda dealership for inspection, where the shop foreman/technician verified that the door seals were intact and suggested that the noise might be due to wind turbulence. To obtain a second opinion, I also visited a local auto shop where a technician explained that the wind could be deflecting off the trim windshield and that the driver's side mirror, which had been treated with PPF, might also be contributing to the noise. The technician recommended removing the mirror as a potential solution, but this would be a costly and time-consuming process. Have any of you experienced similar issues with excessive wind noise? It is peculiar that I do not encounter the same problem on the passenger side. Additionally, I am considering whether the xpel ppf might be the source of the wind noise, and I am currently weighing my options on what steps to take next if I need to have it removed. The wind noise is quite annoying.
Hey guys, I wanted to share with you some good news regarding my type R. After some experimentation, found a solution to the wind noise issue that was bothering me. Specifically, applied a layer of clear silicone to the front pillar corner windows on both the driver and passenger sides. This simple but effective measure acted as a wind noise deadening and successfully prevented wind from entering the gap. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else is experiencing a similar problem.

Where and how is the wind entering that area? Do you know?

Yes, I have tint and ppf. Just got it done last week, but note I was getting the wind noise (at highway speeds) prior to ppf installation. I really don’t think the wind noise has anything to do with ppf.

The outer molding at the front corner doesn't seem to be flush in the pictures I shared. It appears to have some degree of play when pressed, which suggests that there might be gaps where air could potentially enter.

In addition, I believe the tinting and paint protection film (PPF) shop should remove the outer molding in order to properly install the PPF and tint. In my case, it's possible that they didn't reattach it back correctly. However, based on other people's experiences in this thread, it seems that some have encountered a similar issue even without any tint or PPF installed. This suggests that the outer molding may be the root cause of their problem as well.

Does the inner trim piece for the outer molding just pull off?

If you don't already have one, I would recommend acquiring a plastic trim removal tool. For the interior A pillar, you can utilize the trim tool to gently lift the molding, which is secured by a single screw located on the inside, holding the outer molding in place.

Interesting. Quiet on my FL5 with windows up. If you share some photos around front door, front A pillar and driver side mirror than we can compare. Highly unlikely anything can be found with pics but may be worth a try.

I don’t have any wind noise/turbulence issue anymore

My sport touring hatch has the same issue with wind noise coming from the driver door when I’m at 40+ mph. I tried doing the silicone like you did and there was no change. I tried to adjust the door striker ever so slightly too to make the door close a little tighter but no change either. It’s really pissing me off lol… any other ideas?

There are automotive shops that have smoke machine to diagnose wind noise or if you have a smoke machine. Something you can try?

My fl5 has been doing the same thing. It’s like a vibrating/shuttering kinda sound. It’s not constant either. It’s Only the drivers side and it did not use to do this until the last 6 months or so. It Only does it when the windows are up and it also happens from bumps/rough spots on the road. So I’m pretty confident my issue is not entirely related to wind turbulence. Any idea how the window is held in? Is there anyway it’s just loosened up somehow and can be fixed?
