Hi guys. I have a Rally Red lowered on swifts (FL5 specific) front pins pulled.

I also have a set of CE28CR’s in 18x9.5 +38 and am torn on what tires to go with.
I’m leaning toward AD09R Advans or RE71RS Bridgestones. I love the blocky square sides of both tires but am torn on what width to go.

The 275s really fill that space nicely but I don’t want to do ball joints or rear camber arms etc.

I’ve read the AD09R’s run slightly wider than advertised so may be a good option going with those in a 265 as they may be slightly bigger than the RE71 in the same spec but not as aggressive as the 275 RE71.

has anyone had experience with a similar spec that can share ?

275s drive a lot differently than 265s and you'll notice the torque steer more frequently. So if that's not your thing I wouldn't get a track tire that are wide like RE71RS they will be too aggressive or unless you track a lot or want to get a specific alignment just don't go that wide. But if you want 275s purely for looks then go 275-A052 and just rotate your tires often because those tires do amazing at high temps and will also ride better the longer you drive on them.

Weird to recommend against RE71RS for being too aggressive then turn around to recommend A052.....

Both RE and A052 are gonna run wider than your average 300-ish TW Max Performance tires. A052 is not great on wear for actual autoX use but is very fast. But if you are not using it for that purpose its probably no need to go with any Extreme Performance tire. Most autocrossers will probably tell you they get better life out the RE vs the A052.

From what I’ve seen of the A052, the wear is not good at all. My friend put a set on at the beginning of the season, after 1 day at Palmer, 1 day at New Hampshire and 2 days at Watkins Glen, they seem pretty toast. I’m going to Lime Rock with him in a few weeks so I’ll check out how much more it’s got left.

Thanks for the replies guys. I definitely want a 200TW tire as I’ll do the odd track session.
I live in a semi wet part of Australia so needs to be “okay” in the rain also.

I’m leaning toward AD09R’s more so than the A052 as I’ll get more use out of them for regular driving.

I hated my 275/30 R18 RE71RS on the street on a 9.5” wide rim. Felt very lazy on turn in. I don’t know if it felt that way because the sidewall was too square.

Moved to the 265/35 R18 Continental DWS06 Plus and couldn’t be happier. Grip is amazing for what is claimed to be an all season tire. It’s is much quieter than the RE71RS as well.

i have run many tire brands and model types and am amazed at the performance of the DWS06. For the street I wouldn’t consider anything else.

The DWS06 does not have a square sidewall. I mention this in case the look of the tire is more important to you than the driving experience.

If you are tracking then if you can find Goodyear Supercar 3R in your size then that could be a great alternative

A052 is known to be quite good in damp/wet-ish condition, Bridgestone as well. They won't be as good as 300TW in real standing water wet, but anything below that will be quite good, provided you still have tread depth...
