I'm going to make a post on here as I found very little info elsewhere that matched my ACC problem and the supposed solution.

I've been experiencing an issue with my Active Cruise Control (ACC) when I've taken an hour drive down the NYS Thruway from Exit 24 in Albany, heading towards Exit 19 Kingston. I mention the road as I think the characteristics of the drive may have a part in this.

On 3 separate occasions making this drive, I had my cruise control turn off unexpectedly, without any action from me. Each drive was early in the morning on a Sunday, so traffic was pretty light. If I tried to turn the cruise control back on after it turned off, attempting to use the 'Resume' feature would simply result in 3 short beeps, and no cruise control. I tried turning the cruise control off and back on via the steering wheel button, but this made no difference. Other than a brief message stating cruise control was not available when I attempted to turn it back on, there was no lights or other indicators on the dash.

The third trip I decided to try to measure some metrics that I could provide to my Honda dealer to better describe what was happening. I noted the auto shut off the cruise control happened approximately 20 minutes after I turned it on, and after about 25 miles of travel (the math adds up to my usual 72-74mph set for that drive).

I did a quick ODBII scan when I got home to see if there were any codes, but there were none related to anything close to the issue (I have a P16EB code due to my Remark Ti exhaust not using the stock exhaust valve, and the eBay canceller I purchased doesn't seem to be working to suppress it). Doing some Google research on the issue led me to a Honda TSB (22-008) that addressed a similar issue with 10th gen Civics, but this TSB applying to my FL5 seemed pretty weak.

I tried testing the cruise control on other longer drives, but none of them really allowed me to use the cruise control continually for as long at that trip down the NYS Thruway does. Had no issues with the cruise on the other drives I tried to test it.

Took the car into my dealer on Monday for an annual NYS inspection and to have them investigate the cruise control issue (my 3yr/36mo warranty expires at the end of October 2026). I mentioned the Honda TSB I had found and my doubts it was the solution. Their master tech sent me a video inspection and noted that indeed the Honda TSB I referenced didn't apply to my '23 CTR, but in his investigation of the Honda technician forum, he found that a replacement of the ACC camera was the recommended solution. He mentioned something about those cameras being on national backorder, but then said they were hoping to get one to install within a week or so. The dealer sent me an initial quote of around $2500 to replace that camera, but then scrubbed that once they confirmed my CTR was still under warranty.

I'll follow back up on this post once the camera is installed and whether it has resolved the issue or not.

What exits did you have problems on the thruway? And I take it this was i90 and not i87? The camera change sounds an awful lot like they saw an error without a time code and decided to change the whole camera unit. If it's any dealer but keeler I kinda run for the hills.

If it were me, I'd at least try another stretch of unbroken road (route 9 or 50 are pretty good).

I've got the following distance totally shut off, by pressing and holding the button 3 seconds. I didn't like the way it puts on the brakes on instead of gradually matching speeds.
If the windshield was replaced, a bad calibration could cause issues too.
