I was able to fix the clicking sound, dont know what it was but after removing the center console it went away, I rerouted the harness and tightened the throw adjusting screw and no more issues; I will say if you already have the hybrid racing, stick with that one as there is not much difference other than a less mechanical feel
What position did you put the 4 base mounting screws?

Does anyone have an idea of what settings to use to make it as close to stock throw and gate spacing as possible? I have mine on the way but want to ease into it. I had hybrid racing before but felt everything was too big of a jump from stock.

Also - anyone have close up pics of the pivot points? I don't see the traditional ball seat hinge.

4 base mounting screw in position B as stated for type R; Shortest throw and for side spacing I think its the 2 less aggressive, as a side note in my fk8 I was using less aggressive setting as I was using the setting it comes with (middle settings) and also the more height than this one and even with those settings it felt stiffer than this one a lot better IMO its like they diminish the feel with this shifter I don't know how to explain it its not just the stiffness, I guess that if your wife or Mom drives your car they wont have issues driving it LOL but who cares this is my car and I want to have a better feel, anyway like someone mentioned it its a matter of individual preference but again I was expecting a better feel; also in my FK8 I had the regular settings from acuity factory as Im not a person that runs this shifters in the most aggressive setting but with this new one I had to do it because I remember the feel in my old acuity shifter and one last note for acuity if you are going to offer several springs just leave the regular you have been using and then offer softer ones instead of making it wife/Mom friendly and offer the regular (from previous years) available for sale separately; I really want to like this shifter, I will keep driving with it and report back; one last thing when I say the HR has a more mechanical feel its when you shift all the way into the shift and feel/hear a more metal to metal sound (slight feel) in the acuity you don't feel/hear anything

According to the installation instructions on their site, they write that position 1 on throw and gate will offer a slight reduction vs stock

I completely understand preferring the HR shifter or preferring the stiffer centering spring. It's a subjective preference, but your delivery here is a little extreme.

It makes sense to ship the shifter with the "medium" offering and to offer extremes as choices. Setting the "middle road" as the default setting is a common approach in almost every industry (note the default gate / throw settings are also set to the middle option). Acuity publishes the spring rate re: OEM (as they do for all their shifters), so they are transparent about the offering. While it would be nice to have the addtl. options included, at approx. 6% of the cost of the shifter, I don't think the price is outrageous; if you're in for the shifter, the spring hardly moves the needle.

In terms of the default spring being overly soft... I don't think that's a fair criticism, either (I do think it's fair to prefer the stiffer one, but your criticism seems over the top). I have the default spring, and I ended up raising the knob after my original install, as the centering force was stronger than I wanted when I first installed it (moved from knob height 2 > 3). Was it unusable? Certainly not... But it did require more effort than I wanted.

FYI: I am using the shortest throw and second shortest gate spacing, so I'm not someone who was looking for an "OEM" experience (I wanted something more mechanical / with more feedback, with higher resistance, shorter actuation, etc.). I thought the OEM shifter was far too casual feeling for me.

I also get plenty of auditory and physical feedback when I shift all the way into gear with the Acuity shifter. I haven't used the HR, so I can't comment on how it feels relative to that shifter, but relative to stock, it's substantially more apparent.

I've been trying to contact hard motion to cancel my order for the shifter since I ordered from somewhere else but it's been radio silent. Emails, phone calls, nothing. Anyone have any issues with them?

I totally agree with your comments including that my delivery may be extreme and it may be the fact that I used their FK8 shifter so I already have an expectation, for me that is already the "normal" acuity shifter so I was expecting the same feel and from there you can deviate to a more extreme or softer experience but its the fact that I have used their products in the past and I know what to expect; also Im not complaining about the price of the additional spring however its a pain to remove the center console and to re-install the centering spring, in fact I order the softer one as I wanted just a tad softer than FK8 so that I can play a bit more with the shortest settings and lower height, I got the spring before the shifter however instructions on replacing it are not available yet, they told me they are going to be available today).

Why do you say its not a fair criticism to say that default spring is overly soft? to start I dont think I say its "overly soft" its just not what I expected and its soft for my liking, I was expecting similar to FK8

FYI - Just like all people like the exhaust they have LOL I do like more acuity than HR, I think its a more quality product than HR as its easier to install without issues, with HR I had issues with mounting base holes not aligning perfectly and installing one of the cables was difficult as it barely fitted in the joint, acuity was very easy to install without issues, its just the feel is not what I was expecting and it may be the fact that I was running HR and its a very good feel that when I switch to acuity I was expecting more change but you can not go wrong with either of the 2, one thing is for sure once you switch from stock to acuity you will feel the difference as its a very good shifter.

By the way there is slight better feel when going all the way into gear with HR as it seems there is a mechanical sound to it compared to acuity but that is something you may be able to differentiate when you run both and compare, acuity may feel mechanical to you comparing to stock.

Well, I loved acuity in my fk8 more than hybrid racing in my fl5 that is the reason I placed my order as soon as it was released but Im not convinced this time, I will give it a try this week and report back.
FL5 MT could also be another variable to why you’re not getting the same experience. Compared to the FK8, FL5 has a newly designed shifter lever, internal shift gates and more optimized shifter link, Honda wanted to prioritize a more smoother, compliant and less notchy shifting experience from factory.

In my opinion, pairing the FL5 with Hybrid Racing would be like an OEM+ feel. Not too notchy, not too stiff, but still has some slack. *That’s when I paired it with their HR’s upgraded Detent springs too*

Acuity is more aggressive overall and has way more adjustments to achieve that mechanical and notchy feel we like, all with OEM detent springs. That’s not to include upgraded stiffer centering spring, as well as maxing out the height of the knob to 5 for the most leverage.

I just filed for a chargeback through PayPal. Been trying to get a hold of someone there since Friday morning and nothing, no communication at all.

Anyone have impressions switching from the Stage 2 to the full shifter from Acuity?

I think here is why this shifter is more quiet than fk8 and HR, the spring sleeves makes it feel ruubbery, it is quiet when you shift and honestly I dont like it, I will most likely return it and keep HR and to be honest that was not my plan but I was expecting more from acuity. (See description from acuity) I think that explains why I was I wanted to edplain when I say less mechanical than acuity in my fk8 or than HR.
