Thanks for posting this. @jayely14 This is the move IMHO. This part can be had for ~$530 on All Discount Parts. Going custom, hoping it matches, and looks good doesn't seem worth the trouble. Pop off old, pop on new, done.
I agree OEM is the "safer" way, but even at $5xx + shipping costs for an insert on one door is pretty steep. Sweidit reportedly does a good job at matching and I've used him for the steering wheel, and now pending on a job for the 4 door inserts with some much needed cushion (not sure if the stock FL5 armrest has padding). OP's call I guess, but the cheap and hard armrest at least on the FK8 made the decision easier on my end lol.

Is anyone else concerned about the Suede arm rests getting ruined over time just as much as the Alcantara steering wheel? It seems like there's always grease, sun screen, sweat, etc on the center armrests of my other cars

I sent my armrests to Sweidit, so we will see how they turn out. It will have new padding and I decided on leather armrests for the reason you state above.. I don't want to clear my armrests that often like my previous alcantara steering wheels.

Yep, just when you think you don't want to mod anymore, he's got me thinking about doing rear seats now. 🙃

Nice... waiting for my padded black alcantara with double red stitched armrests for all 4 doors as well.

So funny you say that. I have a mini-project I'm thinking about for the rear seats as well. Decisions, decisions...:drive:
