I just picked up my CW Type R last week! I traded in my 22 GR86 in for it. I was driving by my local Honda dealership and I saw them unloading a CW FL5 so I went in and to check to see if it was available. We worked some numbers out and I was happy with the deal so I ended up getting the Type R that day. I’m super happy to be back in a type r. I had a previous FK8 that I sold for a Supra a couple years back. But I’m really impressed with the FL5. Anyway here’s some photos of my previous fk8

As soon as I got home I gave the car a wash and paint correction. First initial thoughts on the drive home was that the suspension stock in the type r felt just as good and handle just as good as the upgraded ohlins suspension in the gr86

So now for the good stuff lol so I reached out to acouple of my good friends that are volk wheel dealers and they were able to hook me some wheels and tires. I went with a 265/35 falken rt660s. I really like these tires a lot I have them on my Supra as well

Ride looks nice. How does it compare to your GR86? I was thinking of adding a GR86 to the fleet but I’m worried I’ll get bored cause type r is so good.

Thanks man I appreciate that. And yeah I loved my gr86 but I really like the type r. I like that it was faster and also the type r is better built than the gr86 some of the interior pieces on the gr86 were cheap feeling. I also like that it have a usable back seat. The gr86 had a small back seat that only a 5 year old could sit back there comfortably. If you already have a type r you probably wouldn’t be to impressed with the gr86. It would definitely be a down grade.

The other day I got a set of rv6 lower control arms for my type r. This weekend I’m heading to SoCal to get my coilovers and alignment done over at S3. I also got my tires mounted on my TE37s

I got a great price on a AWE touring exhaust last week so I bought it and it arrived on Tuesday so Wednesday I got to work and installed it. I love the sound of it. Has a deep nice rumble to it. Installation was super easy and straight forward. Took me about a hr

I’ve been busy and I haven’t had a chance to update this thread. But acouple weeks ago I went down to LA to the S3 suspension shop to get my S3 coilovers installed.

After I got them installed I headed back up to NorCal. I was really impressed with the build quality of these coilovers. They are really well put together. I know a lot of guys that run these coilovers on the track and push their cars really hard so if it was good enough for those guys it’s definitely good enough for me. We had set the dampening to the middle. The ride quality is awesome.

This past weekend the guys over at CHASING Js sent me a special package. They sent me their gold burnt titanium engine bay covers for my type r. Doesn’t enhance the preformance of the car haha but it does make the engine bay look nicer

I love your buying experience. Drove past, saw an FL5 being unloaded, it wasn’t spoken for and you were able to negotiate a deal and buy it. Wow! I don’t see that everyday.
