what waxes are you guys using? i want to see if i can mask the scratches with a good wax before i mess with any polishing
I don't use it on my R since it is ceramic coated, but Collinite 845 is solid, and comes in a sprayable form now that works well.

Always tell them - DO NOT WASH. My car is completely ceramic'd and PPF'd on entire front and A pillars. I also made my service team at HONDA make a note in my record to NEVER wash. I also remind them each time I go into the dealership for peace of mind.

Trade the car in. Make them pay the difference between purchase cost and trade value

Buy a new car.

In the example above. See what that cost actually is and present it to the business as an option if say it’s only a few thousand.

I got my car ceramic'd at dealer before picking it up as new. After first hand wash those little scratches still show up. I know it's very common and obvious on a black car, but is it normal they show up on a ceramic'd car? I'm now sure if the dealer actually did the job, I can't tell the difference.

Ceramic won't prevent swirls/scratches, only good washing technique will do prevent those.

I'd recommend looking into rinseless washing. Makes for easy, quick, swirl free washes.

The foam canon pre-rinse is optional and generally only used when the car is super dirty. You can do the same thing with an iK hand sprayer. Use the video as a technique guide, mainly. There are tons of good rinseless washes out there (Optimum No Rinse, P&S, DIY Detail, etc.)

Thank you for the tips. At least now I know those swirls are more likely on top of the coating. Just by watching the video it looks like I used pretty much the same method, may be I missed something or didn't do it quite right. I'm not bothered with those swirls though.

There are products that can repair swirls on ceramic coatings

a lot of it comes down to the products used. The sponge they're using it cut into grids which helps it give way and not grind contaminants into the clear causing those swirls. Also, the polymer based rinseless wash will help encapsulate the dirt and rinse it from the sponge super easily.

Another option if you don't have a rinseless sponge is to get 4-5 microfiber towels and fold them into 1/4's. Fill your bucket with water and rinseless wash, soak a CLEAN towel in the bucket, wash half a panel, flip the towel, move to the next half of the panel. Fold the towel to the next clean side and continue. Folding it into 1/4's will give you 8 clean sides per towel, so flip often, especially if you notice dirt on the towel. I find lighter color towels work best for this so you can see when they're getting dirty. When you've used all 8 squares of the towel, set it aside. Do not put it back in your wash bucket. Soak a new clean towel in the wash bucket and continue as before. The goal here is keeping your wash media uncontaminated (both the water, and the microfiber). You should also be using zero pressure, just let it glide across the surface. When you're finished washing/drying, wash your microfibers (by themselves, no fabric softener), and dry using the lowest heat setting.

Hopefully that helps.
