"Check Charging System"???

2016 Honda civic. Recently got a "Check Charging System" error code. Bought a new alternator & replaced the old one. The error code was still active & while test driving the windows stopped working & the battery started smelling like 'stink bombs". I then replaced the battery & everything worked fine for 1 week. Then the "Check Charging System" error came back along with many other lights. After connecting the new battery, I was getting 14.4 volts. Now I am getting 11V.

charging system puts out only what battery needs. personally I'm not a fan of the eld system... my radar shows 11.8v-12.2v way too often, sometimes 14-14.5v. if you turn on headlights it will have alternator in high output (14v+). yours could be a different issue.

Hondas are known for being finicky with aftermarket alternators (non genuine Honda) was you replacement...

hopefully that gives some insight if this is new info to anyone...

also make sure the alternator control cable
is plugged into the negative battery terminal current sensor, if that connection is unplugged it will throw a check charging system message but also put the alternator in high output (14v+).
