The civic isn’t a sports car. It’s a “performance” car.

yeah modern 911s have gotten so big as of recent. They are Gt car sized but are underpowered if you don’t get one of the higher end models.
I agree with you that they have gotten very big.

However not so sure about them being “underpowered”. How so? Porsche underrates their HP figured so although base Carrera is stated at 379, it is putting out a lot more

Funny thing, I bought this 82 930 (un-molested Euro version) in the early 00s before the big price run in the later 2010s and paid 30K for it which I'll admit was a smoking deal at the time.
I don't have it any longer to compare side by side with the type R, but can tell you the Civic is miles ahead of the 930 in handling, braking and general fun for every day driving. The 930 had the problem of only having a 4 speed and geared as such that I could get nearly 60 mph out of the top of first gear. Poking around town wasn't much fun because of the tall gearing and the big lag with the K27 spooling up. On the other hand, it was a blast on a fast curvy road or at a car show or whatever. It hit hard when that boost came on much like turning on a light switch. It would have been a much better car with a 5 speed or 6 speed (the last year, 1989 finally got a five speed).
Still, nothing looked better in the garage, plus it appreciated to the moon and back, so it was a good thing in that regard. The widow-maker they called em ... so it had that going for it too. :headbang:

Actually, I'm happy as a clam with my Civic type R. It actually could probably run with the Porsche at top end as you text your girl friend asking about dinner, while in the Porsche you'd be white knuckles and saying your last prayers.
