Thanks for sharing. Wha are some of the benefits of adding this weather strip? I’m not undersranding if Type R would have issue without this or if not? Does the Type R leak without it? Let me know. Thx!

On my particular Type R the seals are good for dust and rain . I can’t speak for others or @fenrir1 but definitely no issues with my 2024 .

There's no issue without it, but theres also no harm in adding it. When it rains or car wash, water wont get in between the door jam in that area in theory. I just simply like an oem+ build as you can tell in all my other builds 😅

Lay down xpel doorsill ppf today but did one side as each door takes a long time to do, about 20 min each. Will do the other side another day. 60" per roll so I bought two rolls and split it in half 30" each so every door sill will have a ppf of 30" long. Laying this down before I lay down the illuminated "Type R" door sills.

Installed the Verus Engineering a/c billet caps, Hybrid Racing retent springs and cable bushings and Mugen Door Guards. The rear retent springs bolt was tricky to get out. Will need a small socket wrench to fit in that tiny space. Careful not to drop anything but luckily theres a small engine block space to catch anything if you do drop your socket. The smaller cable bushing was a bihh to install. With limited space and only able to pull the cable out so far to work on, I couldn't press the bushing in the cable socket by with just my fingers and after an hour or so I almost gave up, until I thought of seating it in a reverse way. I inserted the bushing in the pin upside down, twisted the cable 180 and use an rachet extension with a big socket at the end and hammered it with a mallet so basically installing the bushing upside down so when I flip the cable back over since it will auto flip it back upright, the bushing will be facing up. If all of that makes sense. Also took the strut pins out

Small write up in picture form of the installation of the illum Type R door sills.
.
type R sills: start by removing the side trims and kick panels and under panels on both sides of the cabin. Clip in the harness under the steering wheel column behind the 2 white harnesses that are next to each other and feed both smaller harnesses to the driver and passenger side. Place the front door sills 1.2" posterior from the visible line of the plastic cover panel. Place the rear door sills 1.85" posterior from the visible line of the plastic cover. See pictures below. Cut up the clear film tape into smaller pieces and use 1 tape to tape over the pinch weld where the wire will lay over, then insert the plastic clip over it, lay the door sills wire in the groove of the plastic clip and then another clear film tape over it to secure it fully. Clip the harnesses for both sides. Zip tie the wire to wherever you feel like to secure in place. Reinstall the kick panels and trim pieces. Should be done.

Next is the mikstore a/c vent. Remove the center console out. Pull the rear cover off. Remove both vent up front, the one with the single outlet and the one that feeds into the floor. Swap over to the mikstore vent with the two slots (one for floor stock position and one to the rear). It has 4 clips, two on top and two on the bottom. Pry the top two off and then pry the bottom back and pull. Use force. Reverse install so put the new one from bottom up. Make sure to clip into the clips to secure. Insert the long tube and feed it to the back. Use the small clip that came with the kit and fasten the rear mouth for secure. Reinstall stock floor vent, from top to bottom for easy install. Fitment is trash but whatever, it works

Illum center cup holder and storage. There's two Light A, one Light B, one Wire A, one Wire B, 2 garnish A, 1 garnish B and 3 screws. Remove center console. Remove cup holder. There are already templates of the holes that need to be drilled stamped onto the bottom of the cup holder storage bin. Drill to that exact size. Insert both Light A light on the bottom of the cup holder. Use two garnish A and screws that came with the kit to secure in place. Cut up the aluminum tape and secure the wires in place like in the pictures. I used extra electrical tape as well. Insert Light B in the back of the storage bin. Secure with the last screw and garnish B on the other side. Garnish B is a hood like shape plastic piece that acts like an awning, blocks the light from shining at you when you open the bin and shines the light toward the bottom of the bin so you can see the contents inside. Remove the right flank of the center console by removing the two screws in the back and removing the panel attached by hook clips. Now attach Wire B and use aluminum or electrical tape to the right side of center console. Feed both harnesses that clips to both Light A from Wire B through the opening on the right side and secure with tape. Reattach the right flank. Install both coasters. Remove center vent outlet and unplug the hazard harness. Route wire A down and zip tie along with the big harness if you like, thats what I did. Plug the original hazard harness into wire A and there will be a new harness that acts as the new plug im assuming. Plug wire A into wire B. Reverse install everything.

Fun fact, I've had this set for like 4 years now because I knew back then that I was going to have another jdm car one day as I wanted an s2k or the fk8. The flare holder is a genuine honda part and I have a set in both of my other subarus. I was looking at some install instructions of the other lights to see if I can install em myself (I cannot) and I saw that the jdm fl5 has the flare on the passenger side position so it was the perfect time to break open this set. It felt weird to have kept it for so long and finally cracking them open. Anyways, drilled a hole snd secure the bracket and put new AAA batteries in the flare and I got myself a jdm led flare fitted into the fl5.

Acuity Instruments have arrived! It feels good to have their products in my car again. As I've had some of their stuff in my fa5 before. I got the shifter base bushings, shifter collar and pedal spacer. Only got to the small stuff today as I wanted to put the center console back together asap cuz I was getting tired of this whole interior install as it lasted about 2 weeks on and off. Will install the spacer later.

Next up is I added the jdm subaru trash bin or storage bin which I will be using as that. I have a couple of these and since I dont feel like theres any good storage in the fl5, I decided to put one of these in cuz why not and jdm points. Usually these go on the passenger side of the center console but I did not want to drill a hole on the passenger side. So I stuck a velcro on the back of it and stuck in the middle backseat area since its unusable anyways. It worked out perfectly.

Titanium Collar is a nice touch! If you flip it upside down it'll sit on the side that's flush with the shift knob
