Just bought a certified pre owned fl5. I had transmission issues on a fk8 I also bought used. My fl5 feels better however gets a little inconsistent/crunchy/notchy when I’m breaking while shifting or accelerating. Is my car normal? am I just overthinking the fuck out of it? Any mods that will increase the reliability and longevity of my fl5 a transmission?

Though I haven't done this in my CTR yet, either GM Sycromesh or Amsoil MTL made shifting smoother in my previous cars ('99 Civic Si, '04 Acura TL 6MT, '04 S2000, Scion FR-S).

Winter shifting was way better and no problems in hot weather. No transmission durability issues over the 500k cumulative miles using these oils.

Swap out fluid for Amsoil MTL or
GM Sycromesh. The oil change alone normally improves shifting.

Look for metal bits in the drain pan. I found dog teeth in a prior pre-owned car's tranny oil, which explained shifting reluctance.

I’ve also noticed a bit crunchier of a downshift from 3-2 occasionally..glad I’m not the only one! I don’t get any grinds at all but that 3-2 and occasionally 3-4 also just doesn’t feel right sometimes. My car has 5600 miles..going to switch to Amsoil 75w-90 gear oil soon and hopefully that helps smoothen up the shifts a bit.
