The turbo has barely started to make boost at 2700 rpm. The power band for this engine starts at 3k rpm, and it was designed to operate primarily above that threshold when making power. It's okay to sit around 3k when you are maintaining a constant speed, like on the freeway or something, but you should be operating above 3k when you are accelerating, etc. Putting a load on the motor below that point subjects it to unnecessary stress (it's called "lugging" the engine). Additionally, DI motors like this need to get hot to operate efficiently and prevent excess carbon build up. I respect that you drive responsibly and adhere to speed limits, etc., but from what you're describing, the way you're managing gears, etc. is not healthy for your engine.

Good call on the engine temp assisting in less carbon build up..Also...There are two levels of gasoline that are availble here in the USA..It has everything to do with the "additive pack" that is installed into the gas, either by the refiner or the fuel station..Tier 1 fuels have the minimum additive pack required by the Gov. to sell gasoline. It is what most cheap gas stations sell. Tier 2 additive pack is sold in name brand , often a bit more expensive stations..Mobil, Exxon, Phillips, Cosco, many others sell the good stuff. The additive pack in these fuels is up to 19 times better in reducing carbon buildup on the valves and in the combustion areas of the engine. I use Exxon and Mobil and Shell. These same additives are used in All octane grades that top tier stations sell, not just the top number.
