I track and daily my 2024 CTR. I recently swapped to Torco 5w30 oil with a factory Honda oil filter after tracking the car and oil temps being around 265 with the HEL oil cooler kit and 0w20 Honda oil and filter.

After swapping to the Torco 5w30 oil i saw an increase in oil pressure.

Stock oil pressure- warmed up- 20 psi at idle, 70-72 psi at wot.

Torco 5w30 oil pressure-
Cold- 28-32 psi at idle, no wot pulls cold but 85 psi highway cruising.
Warmed up- 21 psi at idle, 75-80 psi wot and highway cruising.

Do you think these pressures are ok and normal considering the heavier oil? The manual doesn't say anything about oil pressures and the US manual doesn't even say you can do 5w30 but the Euro manual does.

Normal, as the car heats up they will drop a bit more but pressures will be still slightly higher than the lighter weight oil.

I'm seeing similar pressures with Pennzoil 5W-30. I am happy to see higher pressures at lower RPM's, which should provide better film thickness under load at those RPM's.

The pressure relief valve must open around 82 psi, otherwise we would see higher cold pressures.

Our main highway has been under construction for nearly 2 years, with a heavily policed 35 mph limit. Otherwise my cruise rpm's wouldn't be so low.

seems a bit high ff the valve opens at 82 psi. the service manual doesn't say anything at all about it? i have no idea the consequences of too high of oil pressure. only thing i could think of that could fail from too much pressure is the oil pump and/or engine seals.

Do you have track oil temps pre/post oil cooler? Ideally same track, same pace, and noting ambient conditions.

I was thinking the same thing. My concern is at what psi should I be concerned for rings or other components failing.

Appreciate your feedback, I've seen 87 psi while cold. No pulls and again it drops as it warms up and thins out.

Yea it's definitely higher than stock 0w20 oil. While the cars cold and as it warms up I've seen the psi at 85 "highway cruise with oil under 160f". Once the oil thins out and the cooler opens it drops to 70-75 psi highway and wots. Around 20 psi idle.

Unfortunately no. I never tracked it stock. I have the HEL oil cooler kit. I'm not to convinced it does that much though. There was another ctr at the track with me and no oil cooler. His temps were maybe 5-10 degrees hotter. But i also think I was pushing mine way harder. And I have the following cooling components to support... PRL intercooler, PWR radiator, reverse flow Acuity radiator hoses, PRL charge pipes. Those components should also keep the coolant cooler which should have kept my oil cooler.

Temps on that day we're about 90 degrees F and sunny.

Multiple people are reporting that the PRL intercooler is actually making the car run hotter. Are you tuned?
