JDM / EURO FL5 Civic Type R Headlight conversion

Hello Community,

Has anyone installed the Euro/JDM Clear headlights?
Curious to know if it is a direct plug & play or if wiring harness modification is required.

I found these authentic OEM Honda genuine parts on eBay but was curious if anyone here had already tackled this project.

Assuming you're in the states, you need to find LHD euro (or another LHD overseas country) headlights or else any RHD ones will have the opposite (incorrect) beam pattern for our roads and you will blind oncoming traffic without lighting up road signs properly.

Yes, I installed a version (clear reflector) of this headlight assembly on my car a few years back. See the post here.

The headlight assembly in this eBay listing are for the headlights used in Japan (and other countries with the same traffic flow), which I do not advise running in North America. The beam pattern is optimized for a right-hand drive (RHD), left-hand traffic (LHT) automobile. The part numbers you will want are as follows:

33150-T43-Y11 (Left)
33100-T43-Y11 (Right)

Is the clear vs. amber reflector the only difference?

Technically yes, main difference is that it changes out the amber reflector to clear reflector.
wow...these are not easy to find.

The EDM LHD headlights are pretty pricey, over $3k from a couple places I've seen.

Garage Immi has them for $3400, but they are backordered.

This company sells a conversion reflector that is much cheaper and provide instructions on how to do it, they can also do the install as well, but that would require you to send in your headlights to do the conversion.

It was around $2,400 shipped. With tariffs you're looking at a figure closer to $4,000. Yesterday's price...

There are many sellers, question is: is it in stock with Honda? None of the vendors are keeping these in inventory. This part, - like a lot of others - is drop shipped either directly to you, or from Honda to vendor and to you.

I've seen this all over fb and IG. This is Ill-advised. You don't want to open these headlamps unless you know you'll be out of the car in the near-ish term.

I've opened headlights before, without a problem. If you do it right and reseal them correctly with fresh butyl or silicone then there's no issue, but just like everything there is always a possibility that if its not done right you can run into problems. Everything is done at your own risk when modding your car and if you are comfortable doing it.

If it were me and I wanted to do the clear reflector, I'd find a cheap used set of headlights, mod those and then keep my current ones untouched incase something happens or I want to revert back. Cheaper than spending a few thousand dollars importing a set.

Close to pulling the trigger on these; but just wanted to confirm. Seems like all the wiring is the same?

Just asking because I've done EDM headlight swaps in the past on a variety of vehicles and always seemed like there was at least one connector that was different for some reason. Thanks!

The headlamps have an additional unused connector that provides headlamp-level adjuster functionality. A best practice is to weather seal the unused connector. Toyota connectors (PN 90980-11016) fit perfectly, and they are relatively inexpensive. You will also want to pick up a set of 6 Sumitomo weather-seal wire plugs to fill the gaps where the wires connect to prevent water ingress. You can order the part here: https://www.corsa-technic.com/item.php?item_id=382. I believe Honda PN 07VPZ-003030A will also work; however, I have not tried it. Perhaps there's another way to do this, but this is economical and provides very cheap insurance.

Awesome! Thanks for the information. I'll be sure to pick those up when I get around to purchasing the lights.

Now that I'm thinking about it since the headlights have the electronic headlight adjuster functionality, can you still manual adjust the lights pretty easily?

I know when I had some facelift EDM headlights on my EP3 Civic I ran into the issue where it was a bit challenging to adjust the lights without accidently stripping the plastic adjuster gear inside the connector.
