Good Morning Everyone:
New to the forum and new to Honda. I have made the jump a few months ago from an MK8 Golf R (DSG) to the Type R (26 CW) as my primary mode of transportation.
I have found one in transit for MSRP close to me so here i am. I was initially on the fence and doubtful since i am 50, back hurts and has been commuting with automaitc cars in NY metro area for the past 10 years.
To my surrprise i have no regrets, i enjoy commuting more, feel younger and there is always someone to talk to at the gas station when filling the car up.
As all relationships, this one started out with perfection but the more i drive her a few things i found annoying and do not fully undertand what honda was thinking. Maybe i am just too comfortable.
The size of the gas tank. At least 3 gallons too small.
The material choice of the shift knob. Either burn unit or freeze unit.
No dimming rearview mirror. Getting laser eye surgery in front of tall suvs and trucks.
Not sure about the material choices of the interior and the paint looks very fragile. This is a $50K car after all regardless of its roots.
Otherwise very good driving position, seats are suprisingly comfortable even for bigger guys. Getting in and out of the seat requires a certain tecnique which gets second nature after a while. Good overall ergonomics and outward visibility. I found the ride bouncy as opposed to harsh other than comfort mode. Downsized to 18" wheels for commuting. I was initially worried based on user description but after a Gen6 Camaro ZL 1LE this is not even close to harsh. I like the fact the the rear wing does not obstruct the rear view but it is still substanial in size. Manual is very intuitve with easily modulated clutch enegagement. And the more you hassle the more rewarding the driving experience is. This reminds me to a certain extent to my gen 1 subaru BRZ. A momentum car.
I have not had the opprtunity to take her to the track yet but i intend to. At this point i do not feel the need for more power. The car puts the power down very well for what it is. I have not had a front wheel drive car for 20 years so i am really amazed by this and wonder how more power would affect the driving eperince.
Please feel free to share your experience so i can learn from you.
