Yeah I got that part just was confused if you turned the heater on at the same time that you removed the shield or if you attempted to run it A/C off without shield.

The car was silent in comparison to other cars on track in all of my girlfriend's trackside video....lol. I only gave 1 point-by all weekend to a fellow type R owner, but otherwise it was like watching everyone get passed by a sleep number bed....

Its so quick but so silent, but it really sneaks up on people. I can’t wait for you to get your exhaust. I’m still debating what to do with mine I hate how quiet the car is.

The coolant temp annoyed me too! There is no reason I should be running hotter than a 600hp V8!

What was your max ECT? I thought the FL5 had no problem keeping ECTs down.

They still climb from what I experienced, have not gotten a solid number yet but it takes a while. The oil temps are climbing almost instantly though.

I believe I saw 244. I'll need to refer back to my in car footage. Problem definitely not solved. Handling felt...the same, but keep in mind, I wasn't at my home track. I'll be back at my home track in two weeks and will be able to give a better opinion then. My FK8 was tuned. My FL5 isn't. It felt...slow.

This baffles me. A good friend on his first trackday with his FL5 saw Oil Temps reach 150 C rather quickly, but reported ECTs were just fine. On the FK8 we see ECTs and OilT rising at the same time. It feels like the water pump modification made the oil to coolant heat exchanger less efficient somehow.

I don’t think its less efficient, coolant temps are improved from FK8 but they will still rise a bit. I have not gotten super high coolant temps yet. The reason the oil temp is climbing is because the oil cooler is not sufficient for the rate the oil temps climb, don’t really think its inefficiency.

ok 244 F is just a normal Tuesday on a FK8 haha. Felt the same really? Every reviewer says the FL5 rotates so much easier. And I think you are the first one to upgrade to an FL5 that used to track their FK8 hard. I'll wait for your observations next trackday then!

It is, both on the facelift FK8 and the FL5. But I have seen reports that the algorithm is actually good enough, less than 10 C error on a stock car. My friend's car was stock, so his 150 C measure should be close to reality. Your "readings" are certainly wrong since you installed the oil cooler.

16 row. I don't actually trust the oil over heated. It's still clean. Not burnt. When I popped the hood in the pit it didn't feel crazy hot. Something doesn't add up.

She did spit coolant out of the overflow, but barely any. It's like it sneezed. Infrared thermometer on the oil cooler was 126 degrees.
