We couldn't keep the Type R owners waiting any longer! Here is a sneak peek of our high volume intake system we have been designing over the past several months. We designed this intake following suit with the rest of our product line, offering an upgraded intake with the largest possible intake box without requiring any modification (no cutting or trimming) to the chassis. Similar to the 1.5T Civic platform a "street" and "race" version will be available, but this intake will utilize a shared MAF housing between the two variations. The Street MAF version can be installed without any tuning whatsoever, while the Race version will require a specific calibration for proper performance and driveability. There are provisions within our air box to accommodate a possible secondary air source that we may introduce at a later date.

Currently we have yet to determine pricing, but can assure the community that it will be competitive. We are still sourcing materials and will have a more finalized pricing when pre-orders begin. If everything goes smoothly without much revision we expect this to be on pre-order some time during the spring of 2019.

Keep in mind this is our first design and is subject to change as we move forward.

Here's a first look at our 2-piece billet MAF housing for the FK8 Civic Type-R high volume intake system! This 2-piece design sandwiches the intake air box and locates in correct orientation with the bolt holes. Inside the air box, our MAF housing perfectly locates a 6" ID air filter onto the machined velocity stack for maximum air flow and factory-like fuel trims. Stay tuned for more updates as they come!

It looks nice. I'm looking forward to seeing dyno charts on tuned Type Rs. If this gives extra horsepower over Stage 1, I'll buy it. Is the stage 1 tube compatible with this?

Part 2 of 2 Post:

We managed to install our prototype intake system on the shop R to test fitment. After marking sure everything met our expectations, we tossed our car on the dyno to see if this intake system performed as well as it looks. Let's take a look at what we experienced!

Car Specifics:
2017 Honda Civic Type-R (93 Octane)
@KTuner
PRL Motorsports Prototype High Volume Intake System
PRL Motorsports Intercooler Upgrade
PRL Motorsports Race Downpipe
PRL Motorsports Front Pipe
GReddy Supreme Exhaust System

All testing was performed on the same day with a rather mild 55 degree Fahrenheit day and moderate humidity. We started all single dyno pulls at 174 degrees, while continuous (back-to-back) dyno pulls start at 174 degrees and end around 197 degrees.

For our first comparison we tested the factory intake system on KTuner's stock equivalent ECU map versus our High Volume Intake System on KTuner's stock equivalent ECU map for an apples-to-apples comparison. Run 2 was the coolest (174 degree starting temp) for both setups. We saw an 11-12 horsepower peak gain and 32 horsepower gain throughout the mid-range over the factory intake system.

Continuous dyno pulls and testing under the same conditions produce identical gains time after time. Even our hottest runs, Run 4 (197 degree starting temp), showed a 5 horsepower peak gain and 26 horsepower gain throughout the mid-range over the factory intake system.

Next, we uploaded KTuner's Stage 1 ECU map with the factory intake system and our High Volume Intake System. The coolest runs, Run 2, showed an 8-9 horsepower peak gain and 25 horsepower gain throughout the mid-range.

The hottest runs, Run 5, showed a 9 horespower peak gain and 18 horsepower gain throughout the mid-range.

One of our main focuses with this intake system was to offer a factory-like fuel trims (much like our 1.5T Cobra CAI & SRI) for optimal drivability and performance. We spent quite a bit of time designing what we feel is the best intake system/MAF housing on the market. Thus far we have seen Short Term Fuel Trims within +2-4% of the factory. We have a few more tricks up our sleeve, but we are very happy and confident with what we've come up with! :)

Stay tuned as we continue to do do more testing and development. We will be putting together some street data for Long Term Fuel Trims as well!

We will be releasing pre-order pricing very soon, we just got back from NC showing it off to the general public :)
I seen you have price of $399 on your website. Is this the preorder price and more importantly did I miss out on opportunity for preorder?

PRL just released the price yesterday on their site and on here. I think they are going to start pre-orders next week and will also announce the estimated ship date at that time.
