From what i have been reading is that there is a different beam pattern from the JDM to EDM version.

I have seen a driver have jdm headlights on his fl5 and noted that he adjusted the beam to match the original light pattern.

Can anyone explain what he meant and the process? I found a pair of JDM headlights and would like to not have any complications upon install or it failing to work. Thank you

I'm not sure its really a different beam pattern. They probably re-aimed/adjusted the height of their headlights because JDM and EU cars are generally RHD, which means their passenger side or our driver side headlight would be aimed a little higher. They re-aimed the height of the beams to match the US model to not blind oncoming drivers in the US.

They more than likely changed headlights because the JDM/EU versions don't have amber corners.

Yeah, Chilly's right, the pattern is different because of Japan traffic regulations and RHD.

US enthusiasts swap to JDM mostly because they don't like the amber corner lights the US spec comes with (mandated by federal regs)

Best to avoid the JDM headlights because not only do they have to be re-aimed, the light pattern will always be different from the USDM model due to safety regulations and RHD VS LHD. Best to get LHD EUDM headlights which remove the amber corner but still have the right beam pattern.

It's a big spend just to remove the amber corner if you asked me. Especially since the JDM guys actually want the amber corner.

Is adjusting the beam hard to do? If i could find the euro spec lights, i would go for those, just the jdm ones are available now.

regarding the price, it is expensive but for me, i just prefer the clear light.

I cannot speak to how you would adjust the beam. What do you mean "the JDM ones are available now"? Have you used the part numbers provided in the links to source the EU headlights?

It's very easy. You just need to use a screw driver to adjust.

___/—- USDM left hand drive pattern to illuminate street signs and owls in trees that are on the right hand side of the road and keep the beam out of oncoming motorists eyes.

—-\___ EUDM right hand drive pattern to do the same illumination along the left hand roadside curb, because they drive on the left side of the roadway.

You can clearly see your headlight beam pattern by pulling into your garage/parking garage and seeing it displayed on a wall in front of you at about 20-50 feet. That’s the easiest way to see the distinct beam pattern that projector style headlights have.
Please don’t buy the wrong
Beam pattern if you are driving in the US.
