Roof rack key solved!

If anyone else has, like me, misplaced or maybe thrown away a Honda roof rack crossbar key accidentally (bcs they really don't look like a traditional key) -- I have the PN for what you need. It took an unexpectedly long time to find this. If you run into this, your local dealership parts people will be clueless. Once I found the PN's I ordered all three. I'll have to pay a restocking fee, but at least Bernardi Honda will let me return them. Joliet Honda would not, and would've charged 65 per key. I paid $35 each, so figure that out with the 15% restocking fee x2.

There are 3 different keys. Honda doesn't call them keys, of course. The number on the key doesn't correspond to the number on the lock. Without this, you can't remove the crossbars or put them on.

I just went on the hunt yesterday for mine so I could take my rack off now that winter is over. I keep one zip tied to the allen wrench tool, but when you can't find that either...

Luckily I found both in my catch all toolbox drawer.

So an update: the one I thought would fit does not, not quite. It's very slightly off. I haven't counted the ridges/ teeth on the lock face vs the key but I bet there's one too many on the key. I'm calling a locksmith. They'll probably have to drill it out, but I hope not.

I just checked mine and it's literally the inverse of yours @Parthenius otherwise I was going to mail you my spare key. Maybe start a new thread with a new title to draw attention to you needing to borrow one and include the photo of your end cap. Hopefully someone here has the same one. Put it on all the civic threads not just the Type R.

This is a good reminder to keep my spare one safe. Did you repurpose or are your crossbars the hatchback version? My slot looks like this
