Some people, such as myself, prefer lighter shift knobs. Heavy knobs dilute the mechanical nuances that I enjoy so much. In my FL5's case, which is equipped with the Hybrid shift assembly, the insulated Hybrid knob is perfect in terms of feel and weight. In my ND2 Miata's case, it benefits from a very light all-delrin shift knob.
Heavier is definitely not always better and I've formed that thought over many years and many cars.
