Where did you buy an E-Torx Socket E9 for manual retraction of the parking brake?

Like the title says.. WHERE?? lol Every single set I see (and bought) has everything BUT E9.. and I havent ever seen just the one E9 socket.

I managed to use my fingers when I did this last year and I would just rather not do that again and get the actual socket.

I appreciate the help.

You got the numbers mixed up.

An E11 Torx is what you use for the spindle. The alternative for the situation where you don’t have access to a E11 torx, is just a regular 9mm hex socket.

Not sure if there are differences with the FL5 rear brake process, but this wicked smart dude has a nice write up for the FK8...

lol yeah! I did my rear brakes for my FL5 recently and just so happen to have a regular 9mm socket and it surprisingly fit on the spindle.

Not sure if there are differences with the FL5 rear brake process, but this wicked smart dude has a nice write up for the FK8...

Process is the same, even brake pads are interchangeable between FL5 and FK8 if I’m not mistaken.

Wow. ok then lol. I dont remember even trying a regular 9mm socket. I might have.. its been long enough that I dont remember. I probably did read a 9mm socket or E11 and I do have an E11 but dont think I even used it and may have used a 9mm socket and my fingers. Who knows.

Looks like I am all set for when I need to replace the rears.

I mean you can technically spin it by hand.. there really isn’t any resistance when you spin the spindle clockwise. But I wouldn’t want to be touching all that grease lol. If I have the tools, imma use it haha. But glad you’re all set now 🫡

I didnt like the idea of that either for the sole reason of I didnt have anything available to me to re-grease it and I didnt even know what grease I would use.

In the end it worked out but yeah ill be better prepared the next time. 8000 miles on the rear pads (I replaced them as soon as I got the car - lessons learned with the FK8) so I have a little while.
