Living in the Northeast with our abysmal roads, the 30 series stock tires are a catastrophe waiting to happen. I've decided to go to 35 series tires. I was planning on moving down to 18" as seems to be standard, but to me, the stock tire OD just seems....skimpy in the wheel wells. And I have zero interest in lowering (again, Pittsburgh roads).

So I'm thinking of moving to a 19x9.5 (et44) with either Michelin or Continental all seasons in 265/35-19. This will help fill out the wheel well, give me a light bit of extra ground clearance, and most importantly, some cushion for our ever-present potholes.

Big question: will they rub? Am I going to ruin my amazing car?

I have Conti Extreme ContactDWS-06 in 265-35-19 by 45by 19 wheels..no rubbing..however..I may want to go up to 275-45-18 for my poor WV roads..on 18-9.5.45 wheels..

Hi. Welcome to the forum!

I've been through Pittsburgh a few times. Yup, pretty crap roads. However, I have to say that they are probably not much worse than Anytown, USA, that has poorly maintained roads.

I have started a thread that plans to cover this topic specifically, since I can't stand how narrow and skinny the stock tires are on the FL5.

Check it out:

I am awaiting delivery of some new Honda FL5 Forged 10 spoke wheels. Once I figure out the tires I want, these wheels will be be fitted with a set of 275/35 ZR 19 tires.

Edit:
What wheels are you planning on buying?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I know the increase to 35 series is doable on stock wheels, but i wasn't sure if the 44mm offset would push that outer corner into a conflict zone with the body.

I've made the decision to go forward with the plan: Konig F1M wheels (19x9.5 et44)
11th Gen Honda Civic Will it Rub? The Plan: 19x9.5 et44 wheels, 265/35-19 Michelin / Continental all seasons 1747237809602-a8

And Continental DWS06 (265/35-19). That will give me an extra half inch of sidewall for potholes and filling out the wheel wells, and the offset change will get rid of the old milk truck look. I should have them in 10-14 days. I'm very excited.

Thanks again for your help.

Search the forum. There are lots of folks who went more aggressive and had no rubbing.

I am running the stock 19's with a slightly taller 35 profile tire with +40 (stock offset of +60 - 20MM spacer) in front and +35 offset in the rear(stock offset +60 - 25MM spacer) with a drop on H&R's (less than an inch) on 265 width with no rubbing . I stated above the offset might become an issue because 275's are .4 inches wider than the 265's so I get it . Things can get pretty tight but .5 an inch can make all the difference between rubbing or not.

Thanks - I did see his response, but I wanted to check for stock suspension. I know lowering it can change camber and if his lowered car has "stock alignment" that means it was probably changed some. Point is, all of that can affect this and just wanted to make sure. Writing a check for $4500 has me feeling a bit cautious.
