Putting feelers out there - going a different direction.

Used for about a year. Works flawlessly. I used wire looming and tucked the wiring under the battery. Looming matches the factory look so you can barely tell it’s there. My car was broken into 3 times and this prevented them from stealing it

I evaluated the IGLA and decided against it. Did not like the fact that it is Russian made. Though I might be a bit to paranoid, but I used to work Counter Intelligence with the FBI and exploit capabilities are amazing... software can always be compromised or exploited.

I also found at least two cases where IGLA was defeated and cars driven away.

For now I have the Ravelco, an OBD port lock, and a steering wheel to brake pedal lock

But I am not convinced it is the best solution... since I've seen some videos of the Ravelco being defeated in a shop by an IGLA installer... yet no real world reports of a Ravelco being driven away by thieves. So I am still looking for ideas and what other people are doing.

I guess that I am over analyzing this, since nothing can prevent a flatbed truck, and GPS/Cellular trackers are easily jammed

I have a brand new 41.22 kill switch whichI never installed since I could not figure out how to get the switch through the firewall... I just got the remote add-on a few months ago, yet still never installed it. Our daughter is planning to purchase a new car, so I might install it in hers.

I wish I had known about the Mobilistics kill switch before I got the 41.22... seems so much simpler to install.

Decided to give the mobilistics immobilizer a shot. Easy plug and play, and pretty neat functionality wise. Passively self arms 30 sec after shutoff, one button disarm on remote before starting, with a valet mode when needed. Yes, I know it’s easy to defeat if you know it’s there, but do thieves always carry a spare relay? For me, it’s a secondary kill switch, and meant to slow them down. Get past the first one, then they have to spend time to find this one and disable it. It’s the time annoyance factor for me. I plan on fabricating a steel bracket to go over the side of the fuse box cover that attaches with an existing mounting bolt on the side. Is it foolproof? No. But do the thieves also carry 10mm sockets with an extension and rachet with them?

also FYI - in this application, it is not a true starter kill, but rather an ignition kill. The starter will still crank, but the car will not run. If the relay unexpectedly fails, the car will stop running. This would be the same as a fuel pump kill.

I almost went with IGLA, but it was too expensive. Also if I wanted it to disable the OBD2 to prevent someone from using a scanner and deleting my key fobs from the system was a separate add on and would've cost another $500.

yeah that looks quite easy! But this 41.22 pretty easy too. If you’ve ever installed a battery this is just as easy. I’m going IGLA because I have a buddy that just became a dealer and he has a shop a couple blocks away from me. Already got my neighbor hooked up who had their MDX stolen a month ago.

I got a nice little system right now that’s connected to a super loud high pitch alarm if anything is plugged into the OBD port lol

Note that I did not watch any of these, as I already made up my mind not to install the IGLA, so I did not care to watch.
