They'll handle it the same way they handle it in the UK. The cars will be made when ordered and you wait for it to be delivered to the dealer. Everything is done to your chosen spec, colour, optional extras etc. Just the way it should be done.

Deals can still be negotiated though. The trick is to play one dealer off against another to get the best price. Essentially, it's like asking for a price match or a price beat/best price guaranteed. If you choose to buy extended warranty, service plan, optional extras etc. They then generally are willing to move on the initial car price because they are making most of the money on all that stuff. It can work out well for both the customer and the dealer. Plus, they know if they treat you well and give you a good deal, you are likely to recommend them and be a returning customer in future. If you're buying on finance and they are going to get a payout for arranging the finance and the interest charges then again, that can sway things some.

Then you can always buy pre-registered cars, similar to the US where the dealer already has the car in stock and has registered it. Again, negotiate and shop around to get a good deal.

One more reason to move to Aus. Went there 3 times in the 3 years prior to the pandemic. Great standard of living. Cities rival America's best. Better employer matching on retirement. Super jealous. America sucks in alot of ways compared to Aus now! Wife works in financial sector and we've thought long and hard about a move. If it weren't for our dogs having to quarantine 6 months coming in, we would've already done it and wouldn't miss the US for a second!

yep, Australian dealer told me it would be around 65k plus AUD which is 44K USD.

If that's the correct pricing then the UK should be sub 40k, probably £38,995 or £39,995. Could (and should) be 36 or 35 with exchange rates, strength of the pound etc.

I based my logic off a top of the line Accord hybrid MSRP. Certainly nothing more than a guess however.
