Even though I already have a deposit down somewhere, I randomly picked a dealership in South Carolina to call just to test the waters. I inquired, and the salesman already sounded frustrated and said, ā€œMan, I’ve already had 20 people call me about it this morning.ā€ Then he proceeded to tell me that they were ready to start a bidding war. šŸ˜‚

I was told by the dealer that the red one, bound for me, in SE Wisconsin, will be rolling off the line next August. So, accounting for deliver, I’ll get about 2 weeks before I have to have the winter tires put on. I guess that gives me another year of enjoyment with the 2017.

No talk about costs yet.

I had a much different experience than most today...

Called 3 dealerships that were listed as having incoming FL5's. All 3 were still available and not spoken for. One dealership wanted $25K ADM....the second began negotiations at $10K. The 3rd said they were accepting offers but pretty much giving it away to the highest offer by Saturday.

I declined all 3. Funny enough, the '25K' dealer phones me later saying they'd decided to drop to $15K ADM....I I again declined. The $10K ADM was the best of the 3, but I have $5 K locked in at a smaller dealer and I have zero issues waiting.

Next August??? I thought the VINS populated in Honda iN are the ones sitting at the port in California and heading to dealerships soon. I’m hearing delivery is as soon as Thanksgiving.

I had another (black, this time) sold out from underneath me. Went to go reserve it in person and when I got there they had accepted a phone deposit. Reading between the lines, it seems like it was another case of the buyer being friends with the owner (several of the sales reps were saying that the owner wanted to know as soon as tue first car became available for a friend). I only went in person because I was told specifically that they didn’t take phone deposits.

I've got it all in writing. Still have my fingers crossed they'll get an allocation by end of week. But realistically, probably won't this first go around.
What happens when the dealer don’t honor it?
