Long story short, was going to use a 265/35/18 Kuhmo Ecsta Sport S tire on my new Volks but that wheel/tire is shorter than my OEM 19's. With my modest H&R drop, this just has my FL5 looking like a 4x4. Got any recommendations for a 275/35/18 tire that is the same or taller than the Michelin Pilots?

I’m on ADVAN APEX V601 275/35/18 tires on 18x9.5 + 45 offset rims. I’m on stock height and it’s a little taller I think but looks much more aggressive than the PS4 which I like. Way less tire noise, better comfort , more grip.

Man, you're leaving out a bunch of vital information here, brother.

I'm new to this whole scene, and I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do.
Your original post just assumes a whole lot about your readers.

Wheel Size? 18x?.? Are these wheels 18x8.5 , 18x9.0 , 18x9.5 , or Full FatSpec 18x10.0 ???
What is the wheel offset? +45 , +43 , +40 , +38 ???
Also, at least one side profile photo of your car is in order, since you mentioned dropping it.
How do we know your car "looks like a 4x4", which is a very subjective term?
What looks like a 4x4 to you may look like a normal road car to someone else.

We can all sit here and presume that you have something standard like 18x9.5 ET+45 ... but we don't actually know unless you tell us / show us.

That being said, if you really want guaranteed proper taller tires, no matter the brand, go with 40 sidewalls instead of 35. Fill out that fender gap, and get a bit of extra sidewall to protect those beautiful wheels.

Problem solved.

EDIT: Whoops! I just noticed that you are in a Sport Touring Hatch, not a Type R. This still doesn't change my point of view very much, though.
The main difference is that now I am presuming your wheel is an 18x8.5 instead of an 18x9.5.

Best of luck.
Cheers.

Thanks but I respectfully disagree.

Some tires have a rounded profile while some are more square like Advans. Some brands come in smaller than others of comparable size, like Falken Azenis tires.

I was looking for a recommendation on a 275/35/18 tire that was on the taller side relative to other Brands and Models. Are the wheel offset or an opinion on my 4x4 significant details for that?

BTW - I noted in the OG post that this is for an FL5.

You sure did. My mistake here. I must have seen that first, and then my mind somehow blanked on that fact as soon as I saw the Touring Hatch listed in your profile description.
Double Whoops.
(Can I reverse my Whoops?)

As far as wheel offset and overall width goes, I think that does matter, depending on how low your suspension is vs how tall and wide the tire is.
Tall and wide tire + wide wheel offset may risk rubbing the fender.

Not sure if you are going for a normal square flush look, or you are going for the squashed spring "inside tuck", a.k.a. "Cambered N Slambered" look.

Anyway, I'm too new in the tire game to help anyone brand shop. Still learning about the whole rounded vs square edged tire thing, myself.

Happy hunting.

Rim width makes a difference in how the tire is "stretched" over the rim. noticed that tirerack.com lists the "measuring rim width" before listing the measurements.

have you considered 275?

275/35R18 have a taller sidewall, nominal 0.3" taller (I am aware that different brands/models might not be "nominal")

I did a quick comparison for you on tirerack.com

It seems that the Ecsta Sport S is indeed smaller when looking at rev per miles, even though "overall diameter" is the same as the other tires I happened to choose for my comparison...

and it seems that the Falken Azenis RT615K+ are the largest I was able to find...

both in overall diameter and most rev per mile (all others I happen to look at were in the low to mid 820 rev per mile)
