Most of the world has tariffs on our vehicles. That's why you really don't see American brands outside of NA. Bring manufacturing back to the US.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/automobile-tariffs-by-country

Trump's tariffs for chips worked out well, so well Biden kept them and then tried to take credit for all the foundries breaking ground in the US. It was a pain point at first, but worked itself out and is beneficial to the US.

Corporations will pivot and smart ones will use this as a way to be priced lower than competitors and gain market share.

Many of us justified the higher price for the FL5 because it was built in Japan. American cars are historically worse at engineering and build quality. No tariff is going to magically make domestic manufacturers better at designing or assembling vehicles.

Also would like to add to this point as American manufacturing for anything other than weapons has a poor reputation around the world that’s we simply do not have the logistics to achieve this “build in America” ethos as we have shifted to a service economy. It will take decades to get back to where we were and manufacturers will just focus on the massive economies blooming in India/china/brazil hell I will even state Mexico (return of the middle class). The dependence on Americans willing to take on massive debt to live well beyond our means can easily be transferred to country or countries X. This weird feeling of greatness we maintain and the hubris of that is our downfall no one else thinks we are cool, we just borrow like there is no tomorrow.

You might want to check out the CTR issues sub-forum.
The notion that JDM builds are superior is a common misconception that people enjoy perpetuating.

I think there's some validity to it though. Japenese cars, in general, have a bit better build quality than domestic cars. But a lot of people in this sub put the FL5 on such a high pedestal as if it was put together by some sagely japanese master craftsman.

I've had my car since January 2023. No issues except for the seat belt rattle and some other interior noises that have largely went away. I'm pretty positive the rollout of the Integra Type S was worse with many cars having mismatched body panels, gaps, etc.

I still think an Acura (Honda) assembled in America is better than a Ford, GM, and Dodge because of superior engineering.

Curious - when you said the interior noises/rattles "went away," did they just go away on their own? dealer fixed? you fixed?

They mostly went away on their own. The plastic panels settled or the materials rubbed against each other enough to wear away the material that was making noise. In past experience trying to fix them by going to a dealer just makes things worse.

I do have the steering wheel clicking noise that I plan on getting fixed under warranty. I will also have them do the recall on the steering rack eventually.

And to prove out the notion that JDM builds are not superior, the talk track is to check out the Type R: Issues | Repairs | Warranty | TSB subforum? It's an incomplete data set and tells nothing about build quality. This is especially rich coming from a DE5 owner.

I had never heard of this news source, but it sure helps explain some of the thinking I’ve seen here in this thread if this is where people are getting their news.

Telling companies they have to sell cars less profitably will certainly help US car manufacturers return to dominance. 🙄

This is a bad joke at this point. Stay in China or Europe or Canada or Ukraine or wherever at this point, if you're not from there but defending them go there to live and get out of the USA. Things are changing, deal with it like big boys and get better jobs if you have to, whatever. Just stop crying about it here.
