First of all America has the biggest economy. This means in order to continue being competitive with American products imported products will need to lower the prices.
Secondly you will see domestic products enter new markets overseas. Think ford trucks in Germany. The people in Kentucky just got a raise. The people in greer south Carolina that will be building BMW vehicles just got a raise.
Detroit has a chance to rebuild from the 3rd world city it's become.
In my Russell Westbrook voice '' yall tripping''
No, our exports will also be subject to tariffs. A truck built in Kentucky has probably 30-40% imported parts. Those will receive a 25% tariff, making the vehicle more expensive in Germany.

This is a bad joke at this point. Stay in China or Europe or Canada or Ukraine or wherever at this point, if you're not from there but defending them go there to live and get out of the USA. Things are changing, deal with it like big boys and get better jobs if you have to, whatever. Just stop crying about it here.
Get better jobs? No need, the tariffs are going to make the US rich again right? Best of luck guys.✌

Additionally, Ford already sells trucks in Germany. The Ranger is on a 10 year run as Europe's most popular truck (including holding >50% of the market in Ger). It's possible they might see sales attrition d/t anti-American and "buy local" sentiment.
That run will be over, because you are not exempt from auto parts or raw materials tariffs because you export the final product. So the Ranger parts not domestically sourced will be tariffed at 25%, even though the truck is exported to Europe.

Coming from a Canadian perspective, these comments are as entertaining as they are enlightening to say the least. The next year is going to be interesting for economies here, south of the border and overseas. Just one comment, I think the US should go full on protectionism. I think in turn it will hopefully teach people of all sides the importance of having a strong sustainable economy AND having allies. It's an expensive and hard lesson, but one all sides need to be aware of.

Ah yes - we all need to get a better job to pay the orange man sales tax...

Pretty frustrating when it hits your already expensive hobby. Here's hoping he flip flops like everything else he does and this goes away in a month or two. A lot of the small companies supporting the aftermarket industry will just not import parts into the country in the meantime creating even more scarcity.

Maybe Honda will just send the remaining FL5's to Canada. We all know they could use more of them! :)

Human love has little regard for the truth. It makes the truth relative, since nothing, not even the truth, must come between it and the beloved person.

And some people love Trump.

Please elaborate on your thoughts regarding truth. I am a conservative and my wife is a liberal. We obviously have different views but actually communicate with one another to find a common ground.

I was just quoting Bonhoeffer because his thinking seems relevant these days. He saw intelligent and educated people surrender their ability to think and blindly follow the Nazis.

Okay...Quoting historical phrases causes trouble with those living in today's day and age. In the past, such phrases had an impact on society where people were better educated IMHO. Unfortunately, that is not the case today where many claim to be intelligent and educated but are really dumb as a brick when it comes to common sense.

Minions blindly follow or are paid by radicals. I would not refer to such individuals as being intelligent or educated. They are simply minions that are consumers that never learned how to be a producer in their society.

He is implying Trumpism is a cult and conservatives will blindly follow him and justify every move he makes, whether it ends up benefiting Americans or not.

Truth is you're actually both conservative, and at least one of you doesn't know what "liberal" means.

Yeah. I'm actively avoiding contributing to this thread in any meaningful manner... but "common ground" in context of today's politics does not exist by definition. Someone is conceding their core (prescribed) beliefs if they claim otherwise. I don't see how that's not objective fact at this point.

" A person without the correct political associations is like a person born without a soul" just quoting Mao

Being that we are quoting from history I can't help but to notice political assassination attempts and tesla burning everyday. I'm wondering just who the modern day Nazis would be lmfao 😂
