  1. ITS ADS Module vs Coil Overs?

I’ve been happy with the DE5 ADS module. It makes +R usable, which is what I wanted from it. I don’t see a need for coil overs with this car for ride quality. I previously owned a Focus RS that absolutely required coil overs, but I don’t see that with this car unless you want the performance...

  3. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I did one day with 6 sessions (about 100 track miles, or around 45 laps) and the wear I showed happened on session 7, track day 2 after only 7 hot laps and less than 20 minutes on track. Checking the tires, I really didn’t see a need to rotate yet. I figured I’d do this track day and then...
  4. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I had track oriented alignment on GT-R (2 different ones) and Lotus Evora with negative camber and I never had any accelerated or uneven tire wear like I’m seeing with the FL5. The other cars I’ve tracked (Focus RS, 911 GT3RS) didn’t have any aggressive alignments, but they also never...
  5. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

Your 8 session front looks like my Trofeo R after 7 sessions with -2.75 camber. Mine wore out the inside, similar to what you’re showing. Previously, at -1.5 camber, I had a similar outcome on the outside of a PS4S. I’m at a loss on how to get decent tire life on track. Stock camber I destroy...
  6. Tire wear help

I could see that being an issue if driving a lot of street miles riding on the inside of the tire. In my case I’ve had very little mileage and -2.75 isn’t extreme for track driving. I really need a setup that doesn’t destroy the tires and now I’m not sure what that is.
  7. Tire wear help

I was using Michelin PS4S tires with -1.5 camber on the front and destroyed a driver front in about 100 track miles. I was running max around 37-38 PSI and still delaminated/chunked the outside shoulder. I recently switched to a set of Trofeo R tires. These call for 32 PSI hot. I now have...
  8. Are these cars actually reliable?

Can you share the details on the gauge you’ve used for oil temps? What brand and how did you mount the gauge? I am considering P3 gauge into my HEL oil cooler.
  9. Are these cars actually reliable?

My experience is the opposite of what you describe here. Completely stock, the car heated up very quickly on track and I couldn’t finish a 20 minute session without sustained oil temps showing 280+. Coolant temps would get up 240+. There was no beating it to death for hours, just lapping at...
  10. Are these cars actually reliable?

The car can be the fastest FWD car around a track and still eventually overheat on the same track. It’s not designed for sustained track driving with certain conditions (ambient temp, humidity, driving style, course layout, etc etc). I track mine and I’ve addressed those conditions to where it...
  11. Are these cars actually reliable?

As others have stated, overheating on track isn’t a reliability issue. It’s a design issue, depending on how hard it’s driven and the conditions.
  12. New to CTR - impressions log. What do I need to know?

If tracking frequently the center lock wheels are a pain. No easy tire changes, wheel changes or even checking torque. Mine had carbon ceramic brakes. They are great on the street, no dust, great bite, not very noisy. On track they don’t last and are extremely expensive to replace. Rotor wear...
  13. New to CTR - impressions log. What do I need to know?

I really enjoyed the GT3RS on the road. If I was going to track regularly I would have needed to replace the wheels and brakes, eliminating some of what I liked on the road. I never experienced any body damage but after going through it with the Nismo GT-R it just seemed like to pricey a car for...
  14. New to CTR - impressions log. What do I need to know?

My last few performance cars: 2013 Nissan GT-R 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo 2017 Ford Focus RS 2019 Porsche GT3RS 2020 Lotus Evora GT 2024 Honda Civic Type R I’ve tracked all of these cars. The GT-R overheated on the track and was big and heavy, tough on tires and brakes. The GT-R Nismo was...
  15. How long are your track day tires lasting?

I had a weak moment and ordered the Honda forged wheels in OEM size so I’m committed at this point. I’ve read the V730s fit with stock suspension and OEM wheels. The mounted width is listed as only 0.2” wider than PS4S but obviously diameter is quite a bit larger (1.3”).
  16. How long are your track day tires lasting?

I like the idea of the V730s but they don’t come in 265/30R19 so I’d either have to do the 255/35R19 or 275/35R19. Have you fit them on the OEM wheel size? I’d rather not go with PS4S again though maybe the camber change will be enough to change my opinion. I’m not learning, just new to this car.
  17. How long are your track day tires lasting?

Fill me in. I’ve never run them.
  18. How long are your track day tires lasting?

I thought this would be the case as well, but if the sidewall stiffness is a key variable for front wheels with stock camber (-1.5 deg), it could be that certain tire types wear better with that setup. What surprised me about losing the driver’s front in one day (6 sessions) was that my...
  19. How long are your track day tires lasting?

I had looked at this chart and wondered how well it applies to FWD setups like the FL5. Example: I found that on my Lotus Evora, PS4S tires lasted much longer than Cup 2. The chart says AAA for the PS4S and A for the Cup 2 so it matches my experience. On the FL5 the PS4S survived for one track...
  20. How long are your track day tires lasting?

I got one track day out of a brand new set of OEM PS4 tires. The driver front chunked off the outside edges. How do the recommended tires in this thread compare in terms of performance? The durability looks to be better of course.
