  1. 2026 Track Day Updates — post-mods

09/19/26 Update: Installed this week: HRC TCR wing from JAS The HRC TCR wing from JAS has been sitting in my garage for over a month. I wanted to wait to install until I had the Racebred front splitter. It was expected to arrive this week so I went ahead and installed the HRC wing last...
  2. 305mm vs 350mm rear brake rotors

I’m running OEM rotors and calipers on the rear with Ferodo DS1.11 pads. I run 372mm AP Racing front rotors and Radical calipers with the same pads. I run with pedal dance and have very little wear on the rear pads over time. I changed rear pads once in two track seasons. At this point I’ve...
  3. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

No hurt feelings or simmering here. I’m an adult and capable of having a discussion without all the hyperbole. “Remove this, and take off that, and do the pedal dance…” — This is laughable. I’m not exaggerating in stating that pedal dance is about 10 seconds and rain guard is about 30 seconds...
  4. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I have a hard time understanding some of the feedback here. 1- Honda includes a vented hood to ALLOW HEAT TO ESCAPE. 2- Honda includes a rain guard to PREVENT WATER FROM RUNNING ON THE ENGINE. 3- I suggest to a first time FL5 track driver to remove the WATER GUARD and ALLOW HEAT TO ESCAPE...
  5. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

Pedal dance isn’t about going faster, but rather avoiding unnecessary wear on rear brakes.
  6. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I missed the wheel and tire comment! Sorry about that.
  7. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

Nothing about that makes sense to me other than perhaps the “uncomfortable” part if running the heat. Pedal dance takes 10 seconds, saves your brakes, and has no downside on track. Rain guard takes 30 seconds, zero downside. Camber will be a problem for PS4S if his 7/10 is fast enough. I know...
  8. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

Good luck! Remove the rain guard under the hood and run your heater while watching water/oil temps. Carefully watch your tire temps and pressures and front tire wear since you’re running stock camber. ABSOLUTELY run with the pedal dance activated so you don’t destroy your rear brake pads.
  9. FL5 struggling to start on the first try each morning

What would this have to do with the OP?
  10. 2026 Track Day Updates — post-mods

Thanks for the feedback. Yes this track is a clockwise configuration and they never run the other direction. I’ve never had this issue with any other cars, but this is my first FWD track car so I think that is contributing. I can definitely focus on relying more on corner speed and less on...
  11. 2026 Track Day Updates — post-mods

The cars I’m referencing were not tuned and not running intercoolers. With my car, I ran into overheating issues completely stock (other than SRF fluid and Paragon pads). I first installed HEL oil cooler, then PWR track spec radiator to mitigate. As pace increased, I went further because more...
  12. 2026 Track Day Updates — post-mods

I’ve run the following tires on track with the FL5: PS4S Cup 2 Pirelli Trofeo R Nankang CR-S I have run so many PS4S because they’re only $200 from the dealer and I haven’t seen improved life from the others. I have seen better performance from the others. The PS4S holds up pretty well with...
  13. 2026 Track Day Updates — post-mods

08/30/26 Update: I ended up with no track days since 07/13. I went to I29 today with the Nankang CR-S tires installed along with the Verus canards. I am still waiting on Racebred splitter so didn’t yet install the HRC wing. It was another hot and humid day. From the first lap with the...
  14. FL5 Transformation With 4 Mods!

I have no idea what all that meant. There are a lot of options available to improve the FL5 in objective ways- handling, braking, acceleration, aero, etc. Honda themselves sell a few parts.
  15. FL5 Custom Engineered Michelin PS 4S

Mine fall apart with the opposite condition: overheating on track. Tread blocks come off in chunks.
  16. FL5 Transformation With 4 Mods!

What are the four mods that provide for an INSANE transformation?
  17. Chopsuey’s 2025 Civic Si Build Thread

Just drive the car. There’s nothing so special about an FL5 that I’d worry any more than with an Si. Both can be easily repaired or replaced if necessary. I don’t care about cosmetic issues, scratches, door dings. It’s a large machine that I drive so it’s going to have wear and tear. I did draw...
  18. Rev Match with CAE/Acuity/Hybrid shifter

They should not be using wheel speed for anything related to auto rev. I can’t see any reason you’d want wheel speed in the rev match math. Clutch sensor, transmission speed sensor, neutral position sensor are what they quote.
  19. Chopsuey’s 2025 Civic Si Build Thread

I read through the thread. My main takeaways are that the SI never seemed like the best fit for what you were after. The Type R would have been a better starting point. I also enjoy NA engines but I disagree with the turbocharged assessment. Unfortunately you have to spend a lot to get the...
