Thank you for pulling this together; it's quite helpful. I considered building a similar thread, but the time got away from me. I wanted to share some unsolicited feedback, so do with it as you wish. It appears this guide is narrowly focused on the exhaust systems you are either a distributor for or those you can obtain, which only represents about one-fourth of the systems available for this platform. There are far more in the consideration set that are worthy of discussion. If the intent wasn't for this guide to be comprehensive, please disregard. Also, are the photos in the first post intended to be hyperlinks or something else?

I admit I'm Team Overthink when it comes to making certain decisions, and selecting an exhaust for this platform was one of them. The decision points are more than just sound and performance, and that's what makes selecting an exhaust more complex than it initially seems. In the context of computational mathematics, the permutations are incredible.

I created the following attributes for consideration when I was in the selection process:
  • Manufacturer (Brand)
  • Model (Type - some have more than one version on offer)
  • Cost ($)
  • Exhaust Valve (Y/N)
  • Piping Diameter (mm or in)
  • Performance (stated hp and/or tq)
  • Muffler Tip Count (#)
  • Muffler Tip Design (Diameter, Type, Material, Color, Branding)
  • Material (Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel)
  • Resonator Count (#)
  • Connections (Bolted Flange or Slip fit/v-band)
  • Front Pipe (Y/N)
  • Weight (lbs)
  • Sound Clips (Count, Quality - external mic vs. no external mic, In Vehicle vs Exterior, etc.)
  • Tone (Boom, Tin, Rasp, Bass)
  • Drone (Y/N - if so, how much and under what conditions)
  • Volume (dB range - Low, Moderate, Loud, Extremely Loud)
A good starting point is to arrange the attributes. Since there are so many attributes, you likely will not be able to tick all the boxes unless you only care about a few so a weighting system may also be helpful. For example, if you're after retaining stock exhaust valve functionality, your options are as follows: Milltek, Borla, Magnaflow, Amuse R1 Titan (Triple Tip), Fi, ARMYTRIX, Remus, TPW Engineering, SEEKER, and Remark Sports Touring.

When the FL5 was first released, I doubt anyone thought selecting an exhaust system would be this involved and difficult. Anyhow, happy hunting!

Hey man, thank you for pulling this together — seriously, this is super helpful. I actually just threw that blog together to get something out there for discussion since it’s one of the most common things people ask: “What’s good for a daily?” How loud etc lol That’s pretty much what 90% of the messages and DMs are about, so I figured I’d get something simple live to help get the ball rolling.

I definitely wasn’t trying to make a fully comprehensive guide — just a general one for people starting out or trying to get some quick clarity. I did the brands that are most popular right now for sales tbh that’s what people inquire about. I really appreciate you catching that and pointing it out. I’m also just doing this solo on the side and usually crank these out quick between orders, so the photos were just placeholder visuals not completed yet, not hyperlinks — but that’s a good idea actually.

I love that you’re into this at a deeper level and took the time to lay out such a detailed matrix. Honestly, it’s rare to come across someone who isn’t just repeating what they read in a YouTube comment section. Your list is gold — exactly the kind of thing that’s valuable for the more advanced enthusiasts in the community. If you ever decide to turn that into a full write-up or spreadsheet, I’d absolutely love to share it and feature it through SBX Performance. People need this kind of depth, especially with how complicated the FL5 exhaust market has gotten.

All my blogs will mostly stay on the basic side — entry-level guides, just to get people started. But this right here is the kind of next-level info that makes threads way more valuable. Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback — and for actually giving a sh*t. It makes the community stronger.

Let me know if you want to collab on something down the line!

If you end up doing this we can add all your information to it if you want? we can kinda work on it together to help people. Your right who would have thought that choosing a exhaust would be so difficult lol. I am here to help people DM me if your interested or DM me on instagram @sbx_performance_llc
