Morning Gents, if you’re in Florida, now’s a good time to go Type R shopping. A few dealerships have at least 2 or 3 on the ground l. Brahman has the only RR available for sale at the moment.

It’s not in my best interest to give clients options outside of my dealership but I wanna see you guys get the cars you’ve wanted.

Are they still adding a markup though? For me, on the left coast, I have to factor in transport so if I buy from an east coast dealer, its gotta be MSRP for me to pull the trigger.

Still being marked up at most places, these cars will always be marked up unless it’s a dealership that exclusively does MSRP or they have 2 many of them collecting dust for extended periods

How does one reserve a car if they don't do waitlists? They are inconsistent IME, and this is what I mean by that. I "reserved" their "first" FL5 a long time ago (according to them). Then they sell their first two to employees, which was never communicated to me. Now they have sold their third to someone else who has it reserved, despite not taking reservations/deposits/waitlists. I reach out to them and they don't respond to emails. And this is the supposed best Honda dealer in KC. Doesn't say much for buying a Honda around here.
Sounds accurate to me. I used to live in northeast KS. Jay Wolfe is especially awful and had a class action lawsuit against them a few years after I moved away. Look it up. I don’t know what their problem is, but they and other dealerships in KC are super arrogant in my experience. KC is a nice place, but it’s not Beverly Hills!

I firmly believe that the current markup on these cars won't last indefinitely. While many cars are marked up now due to the hype, this will eventually taper off. With the 2024 model already confirmed, it's likely to be more accessible than the 2023 model. This trend will continue with subsequent models like the 2025 and beyond. Manufacturers will capitalize on this car's popularity as much as they can, especially before transitioning to a hybrid Type R. Notably, there's no evidence of a production slowdown. Take the G80 M3 as an example: BMW has extended its lifecycle beyond the usual duration. I predict a similar strategy for the current FL5 Type R. While this might be an unpopular opinion in some circles, I genuinely believe the manufacturers will optimize this car's potential. As time goes on, markups will diminish. Although some dealers might always charge a premium, securing one at a fair price will become increasingly feasible.

@007 Yes, supply and demand makes sense. I agree the markups should continue to taper down, assuming there’s no production problems.

I also think @AspecR is right that the FL5 is likely to always have a markup of some sort (in most scenarios). The simple reason being : There are always buyers who want these particular cars brand new. We all know the reason for that. Those who don’t mind buying used will get the most bang for their buck as used car prices shouldn’t continue their currently inflated prices. It’s insane to me that used FK8’s with like 10k miles on their odometer are selling for higher prices than new. This just shouldn’t happen, not with “normal” production vehicles under “normal” circumstances…yet, here we are.

I guess what I’m getting at, which many have been saying, is : If the car is available and the terms are agreeable to you, then buy it and enjoy. Yeah, you could wait and possibly get a better deal…but then again, maybe not. As ADMs taper down, more buyers will show up, especially if we assume that the economy will improve over the next few years.

Until there is market saturation, there will be markups on this car. There are still people putting up videos about it on youtube, and there is still a lot of talk by those who can't afford the high markups. Note how there were several people on here who got a car early because someone couldn't work out the financing.

THE REALITY is that NOW is the time to buy, as AspecR said.

The dealers have more cars than ever, the 2024s will be making these less desirable, and the end-of-year sales goals that both dealer and manufacturer have will be incentive to sell and not sit. Dealers get real money bonuses for hitting (or exceeding) goals.

Be assured that any dealer that isn't willing to discount now to hit those goals, won't be bringing down their prices anytime soon. if you are serious about getting one of these cars in the near future, then these last 2 months are the time.

For those who are only willing to pay MSRP... if you don't find such a thing, then, give it a go on the last day of the year.

Good luck!

What is the current interest in this car by buyers right now? Have you noticed any change in awareness or interest? If they are interested, is it mostly price, or other issues?

Interest rates with A-tier credit are between 6-8% even with credit unions and they aren't going down any time soon. Interest/demand is still high. In Florida these cars will always have a markup, most don't realize that it's actually better for clients when Honda drops a large batch at once, instead of a steady trickle. Negotiations will be easier if 4 sit unsold as opposed to 1.

Main issue people are still having is pricing, second is credit worthiness, if they aren't buying cash but people still want them though.
My dealership got 8 of them yesterday, all but one of them left the dealership with a new owner. The last one didn't leave yet because it's owner lives in Vegas lol.

which dealerships and what colors are available. I’ve been trying to find a reasonable OTD… fort pierce wants $70k for their type r, Margate wanted over $60k for they’re used grey one. The best I’ve seen/heard is a friend of a friend paid $55k OTD somewhere in Georgia for boost blue

Rick Case Honda, you’re a little late though. All the ones we had sold the same day, some of them were presold though. We’ve sold a few for $54k-$55k OTD

I’ll keep you in mind when we get more.

Damn, I would appreciate that, if you can let me know. I’m a local West Palm Beach born and raised so I’d rather make the hour trip down to Davie then 10-15 hours up north if I can.

Just curious, what’s the lowest someone has paid here OTD for an FL5

An employee’s family member got one for $1995 over sticker, that works out to just over $52k OTD.
