Just having a bit of fun. Your energy is good no worries. Also some of those dealers you mention I am on the top of list so all good.

The top dealers ironically arent going list based (although if you are top of the list you will get top shot of making or taking their offers), they are going offer based.

The "list" and ranking is meaningless, if you don't play their options game when time comes. Spoken to a few of there GM's.

Toronto Honda, formula etc (largest) flat out just asked me how much value in options I'm willing to do.

Seems like the case for me as well. Dealer said, the more you choose the higher the more likely you'll get one. I take it that means the "list" doesn't hold much value.

Honestly could be just how different dealers deal with their "list" though.

At the end of the day, as someone said previously, its a dealer's world we live in now.

There are top dealers that do MSRP, no packages and list for first come first serve (EXTREMELY RARE within the top 10). But all the main ones I contacted wont even take your deposit because they want to only take deposits once they know you are top dog for "markups".

While its true Canadians don't pay "markups" most (90%+) of the time. When it comes to rare, in demand, hype vehicles. We get gamed just like the Americans (just not as bad, as we get options in return for our $$).

You must not be talking to the right people. I have had a deposit down since spring and have great relationship with my dealer. I dont mind paying for tint or PPF which I plan on doing anyways if it comes to that. But ya if you are dealing with the biggest dealers they cater to the biggest group of people and you will pay dearly for those extra potential allocations.

I mean outside of directly talking to a dealers GM who else is there lol. I don't waste my time with ambassadors or managers.

According to the communication our store got from Honda is we should receive our first vehicle on ground by early Spring 2023. We're in Chicago. I'm assuming at this point with the vehicles coming from West coast that some California dealers could receive them as soon as late Winter. Maybe February.

Allocations are going to be based on last two years of Civic sales. Considering my store sells at MSRP and all of our Civics are sold 6 months in advance and delivered within 5 days of delivery, we are projected to get 1 allocation per month.

So this means stay away from dealers that have 2022 Civics sitting on their lot with a huge markup because their tardiness to turn around their inventory in time will slow their ability to get basically any Type R's at all.

Any other info I get that is verifiable I can pass along

Would you consider your dealership a top, volume dealership within your region (and nationally)?.

12 annually starting spring is pretty damn good! Also, is it possible to share a snip of the communication (with confidential details redacted)?

Our store is a top dealer in Illinois. Normally first in the zone and top 3 in the district, top 20 in the nation.

I've sold 6 Civics to folks on the forum and have 8 deposits on the Type R currently, also from folks on this forum. My earliest deposit being November of 2021. Issue we're facing now is we have 43 on the list and we don't even know if we'll get 43 over the course of a 4 year projected production run. I'm number 25 😉

We'll see how it goes. I'm so excited

Yeah, I 2nd wanting to see this communication from Honda.

Spring starts at the end of March 2023, just a few days off of the “Coming this Fall” statement Honda made.
