Did not realize how expensive Type Rs are in the UK with VAT, etc. Pushing around $78K USD. No wonder you don't see many in the UK.
Import fees, emissions fees, VAT... all insane. And on top of all that- they get market adjustments because they are even more hard to come by. Used 2023s are going for 55k+ USD. The last new one I saw in the UK was listed at ~62k GBP (~84k USD) and it probably sold for close to that.

10 for UK... Which is probably close to how many UK got in 2025 so far šŸ˜‚

I think they are saying a total of 40- I'm assuming that might be a total of 40 for all of Europe. Not sure what this spells for US market, this may leave US as the only holdout- but for how long?
It’s 40 total. 10 for EU. The rest are for JPN, if I read correctly. No word on a Special Edition for NA yet…but I would expect something to shore up soon.

EU Type R’a do have some features that the NA Type R’s don’t, which scales the price up a bit (in the EU). Still…EU Type R’s shouldn’t cost so much more than the ITS. That’s insane! Though, thinking about that, if EU imported ITSs then the price of those would be ridiculous too, I imagine.šŸ¤”

I knew this was the last hurray for the Type R petrol only version. I don't think they make any money on the car. I believe it's a loss leader. I don't see many if any cars in the USA without start stop idle in engines. The Savagegeese interview with Honda - Honda mentioned this was to going to be the last of the only pertrol versions before they move to hybrid. So the writing was on the wall.

Germany still has some one sale - I'm sure they will get taken off the market soon

Only 22 new ones available in Germany:

I am jealous of the non-use models with folding mirrors and front and rear parking sensors.

Curious has anyone tried to convert that to the USA model?

Folding mirrors can be retrofitted pretty easy, mikstore has kits and they are not hard to install.

Parking sensors can be refit, also from mikstore. You need to drill through the bumper and run harnesses. Not impossible, just a pain.

I got no problems with a hybrid if it was still performance-oriented (ie good power, manual transmission, great handling).

I think my only problem with a hybrid type R would be the increased weight and handling differences. The Prelude is a coupe and it's gonna be heavier than the normal civic by a few hundred pounds

We also know Canada has limited FL5s on sale with pretty high markups. How easily is it to sell a used FL5 to a Canadian? I don't believe there are import year restrictions like our 25 year rule.

I've asked our friends to the north about this some time ago. I was told it would be close to a push after jumping through hoops and paying import fees to get the car in the country. Maybe @onepointsix or another Canadian member can weigh in.
