Jalopnik has an article today (1/14/26) saying there will be 2027 Type R's and Type S's with styling updates, at a minimum.

The official Honda press release says the type r will be updated “this year” so I kinda have a feeling they’re talking about the 2026. Otherwise I think they would have said next year.

Assuming the changes happen for 2026, it is safe to assume there will be a 2027 (which would also have the updates). It wouldn’t make sense to update 1 MY. As @AspecR has said many times, since the beginning, Honda has said the FL5 will have a 5 year production run. So far this has held true. I think the facelift announcement is just further proof that 2027s are in the plans.

I think they said later this year, meaning 2027.

There’s really nothing to interpret in their wording. Even the title of the press release is “American Honda Offers Outlook on 2026 U.S. Automobile Business.”

The changes will happen this year pushing to MY27 model. They already announced the 2026 with no changes and the increased price everyone is yapping about.

is that why 2025s extended to February this year? Maybe so they can prep the changes? Dunno.
I dunno either. Delays could’ve happened for a number of reasons, but it does make sense that there would be a changeover period, which might’ve slowed production for a bit. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was a factor, among others.

I don’t believe they’ve announced that there are no changes on the 2026, only thing they’ve announced via a press release is the pricing.

If there isn’t much of a price increase there won’t probably be many changes.

Saw that as well. Not a huge fan of Meteorite Grey Metallic and would prefer the Polished Metal Metallic from the FK8 though!
PMM sold poorly, MGM does quite well. The problem lies in the fact that Honda uses regular civic data to determine colors for the Type R when the average civic customer and the average Type R customer are not the same person. Also Honda has teriible product planners

After everything I've heard about the CEO drama, I think it's much more than just product planning that leads to us getting stuff we don't want. But to be fair, like you said, different strokes for different folks.
