Damn only 546 units for Canada for 3 whole years is really disappointing. Makes me worry that buying one is not going to be a pleasant experience...

I just emailed my sales guy at the dealership about getting an update on the car. Iā€™d be curious to see what he replies back with.

All I know is that if I end up selling my car and cannot find an 11th gen CTR and I get impatient, Ill start looking into a clean championship white 10th gen CTR, but in the end Im getting a CTR.

And Iā€™m pretty sure over 2017-2021 they sold 20,000 Type Rs in the US, which would be around 4,000 a year. So if it extrapolates based off what Canada is doing, and we get 3,276 per year, thatā€™s not too far off the FK8, right?
I really isn't that far off, and in reality, the demand for the 11th gen isn't going to be as high than 10th gen. Which is why these numbers make sense.

I hear yah and trust me, I'm hoping for the best but we only have to look at the C8 and Supra for precedence. The C8 was marked up on average 19.3% even though it sold a sh*tload (2020: 21,627, 2021: 33,042, 2022: 17,441). The dealers are still going to add mark-up even if Honda by some miracle supplies enough cars to surpass demand.

My guess is a 20% markup on a $41k 2023 ($41k instead of $37k to adjust for inflation) sooooooo my final guess would be:
$49k($41k + 20%markup) + $1k(bullsh*t dealer add-ons) + 10%(California taxšŸ˜) + 4k (fees) = ~$60,000 out the door
lolā€¦not even remotely close. You think the msrp will be $49k?šŸ˜‚

I doubt any of the MSRP numbers tossed around in this thread are out of the realm of possibility. I think everyone needs to start bracing themselves and get ready to accept that only the people who are desperate for this car are going to be able to justify the price premium (either MSRP or markup, it doesn't really matter).

I mean the '23 Odyssey for crying out loud just had a 12.5% increase in MSRP year over year.

Honda is selling half as many cars (production limited) in '22 as they were in '21.

It's sh*t out there in the world right now and all auto companies are trying to stay in business. The asking price for this car is going to be a lot more than the '21. Mid-30ks are long gone.

you understand the lx model is now gone. The lowest trim level now is an EX and the prior year EX was only about $1k less. they just eliminated the LX model to make it seem like there was a ā€œhugeā€ price increase šŸ˜‰

True. But I did put a big deposit in lol

I'm guessing the USDM FL5 allocation would double the CDM allocation but not 100% certain on that.

Canada is a waitlist, not surprise if all FL5s will be spoken for come launch date since everyone is going through an online portal to order. If the G87 M2 is not ZCP then I don't want it imo
US should have a much higher ratio than 2-1 based on recent historyā€¦

ROFL - some waitlists are over 20 people and that was in feb. Demand 2x with a quarter of the supply.

Civic Si are still selling $8-$10k over MSRP, so $36,000.

My guess on the 2023 MSRP north of $40kā€¦. $41,000? $42,000?

When the first Type R came out in 2017, MSRP was right around $34,000. 2021, it was $39,000.

Not crazy to think of $10k-$15k over list. Just look at what used are selling for right now, itā€™s just what the market is. Reality is, someone will pay it, just to say they have one.

Youā€™re right, and I think like others have said, there will be an increase, and it will probably be around $40-42kā€¦but if they just go crazy, they would price themselves out of their competition. I mean the Golf R MSRP is what, $44-45k? And itā€™s AWDā€¦ I canā€™t see them topping that?
But, yeah, I mean, anyone who doesnā€™t realize people are going to be fighting for this vehicle and willing to pay a premium to have it, are definitely in for a big surprise.

So how does that online portal work exactly, like site opens up and dealers enter orders in hope their orders get filled?
Honda is trying to push online orders like what happen with the LE where its a free for all. Not sure if they are releasing all units or just a number per year since the break down per year per province isn't high.

I rather have it through the dealer on a first come first serve bases

I was told via text last night that I could have my car by the end of September. Not sure how true that isā€¦but I sure hope so since Iā€™m going up to the tail of the dragon & Iā€™d love to take that instead of my old civic

Sounds awesome, but Iā€™m trying to understand how dealers are making promises like this, when the car hasnā€™t even debuted? I guess in Canada, they get all the info before the rest of the world?
