The video that @Brittania posted was just what I needed 😉 I knew this install was/would be/had to be possible without removing the whole center console.
Just returned from China Freight where I purchased a $2 pick set.

Just be careful if you aren't removing the whole center console. I dropped one of the shifter base bushings when installing them on my SI since the space was so tight. I didn't take the whole console out. The bushing slid behind the carpet and I had to remove the seat to get it back. Sometimes saving time wastes more time.

Its just easier to remove the center console when doing any modifications to the shifter, the console itself is 6 8mm bolts holding it down, and the plugs from the harness. Having the room to remove the shifter cables and everything is so much better. It literally takes me a few minutes to remove it all.

Ive used the Hybrid Racing video to help me when I first took apart the console.

I installed mine yesterday and everything seemed fine until this morning when I started to hear/feel a clicking sound when shifting to the right side (5th or Reverse) just the right side, I need to check what may be causing it, I emailed acuity this morning but have not got a reply yet; also the feel of the shifter is less aggressive than in the FK8, I had the shifter in the FK8 and I remember it was stiff so this time I ordered the optional centering spring to make it softer but after feeling it I think I will order the stiffer spring as this really does not feel like the Fk8; by the way I had the hybrid racing installed and really liked it but I liked better the feel of the acuity in my FK8, not in this one as the hybrid racing is a bit stiffer and the feel is more mechanical than acuity, I hope the stiffer spring makes a difference and I can fix the clicking sound I have if not I will be going back to Hybrid Racing.

Let us know how it goes. I like the shifter to be more stiff as well

You're 100% right about the centering spring not being as stiff. The founder of acuity talked about that being a deliberate decision and offering other centering springs for people to get the feel they wanted.

From 4:22 to about 6:30 he talks about it.

This is the comparison I've been waiting for. I currently have the HR shifter and I'm overall happy. I was curious if the acuity was going to be stiffer and more direct feeling, sounds like it isn't.

I appreciate that they went in that direction. Allows the end user to further fine tune their experience to how they want, and not be stuck with a fixed spring rate like some shifters out there. That extra little adjustment makes a big impact for customers who want a all-in-one shifter to cater to different driving situations.

I have the high preload centering spring, but haven’t installed it. The standard spring is stiff enough already without any upgraded detent springs. But will keep it incase it starts to feel loose after the break in period.

I mean, they're at least giving people the option to change the spring out if they want to go softer or stiffer, but I do think they should have just included the different springs with the shifter for how much it is instead of having it as an additional purchase.

I'm not dogging the shifter. Just not seeing a current reason to switch from the HR shifter.

I get that, yeah, I dont see a reason to switch if you already have the Hybrid Racing shifter.

I was told today that it will not break in a lot so the feel will br basically the same

I was able to fix the clicking sound, dont know what it was but after removing the center console it went away, I rerouted the harness and tightened the throw adjusting screw and no more issues; I will say if you already have the hybrid racing, stick with that one as there is not much difference other than a less mechanical feel

Surprisingly, I’m coming from Hybrid Racings offering, and I personally think Acuity is more mechanical and notchy after a full week of daily driving and has a way better return to center spring rate. And that’s with OEM detent springs and standard centering spring still installed.

But just like how people judge exhaust sounds/drone for this platform, everyone shifting experience will be subjective.

Well, I loved acuity in my fk8 more than hybrid racing in my fl5 that is the reason I placed my order as soon as it was released but Im not convinced this time, I will give it a try this week and report back.
