I checked the oil before I hit the road today on my 2025 Honda civic sport hatchback. I don’t know what honda puts in the engine as factory fill but it’s damn near impossible to see on the dipstick. The readable part of the dipstick is orange with a small hole to show minimum and a small hole to show maximum. It took me a couple tries and some good sunlight to actually see the oil in maximum fill hole on the dipstick. Do you guys know of any cheat codes or methods to make reading the oil level easier or more accurate ? Thanks for answering all the newbie questions. I appreciate it a lot ok

Look at it from the side instead of straight on, you should see the oil as a “bubble”.

Other method I do is get a shop towel (blue paper towels) measure oil then put it against towel then look how high it is comparing it to the stick.

But yes the stick stucks

Another vote for "these dipsticks suck".

Something I've done is taken a blade and cut little notches into the plastic end piece so that it can more easily be read.

you can also remove the orange plastic from the dipstick. just don't drop it in the engine.

Thanks guys. I bought some blue shop towels for general use and will go the measuring oil on it next to the dipstick method. I don’t know what sewing machine oil they factory fill them with but it would definitely be nice if they added some dye to the oil to make it easily readable or make a better dipstick with crosshatching on it. I know the sight glass on the f4i spoiled me for checking oil as well

Well, I did the blue towel hack today just to see and it worked. I could clearly see the oil level is slightly over the top hole on the dipstick so thank you. I also verified a 10 to 12 inch drop is perfect for making sure the hood is securely closed so you don’t need to push it down at all, which could bend the sheet metal, to close it properly Thanks for the common sense advice guys
