I love the fact folks are DIY projects. I'd figure a hood would be the starting point?

It's a likely piece of the puzzle. I had a seibon vented hood on my fk8, but I'm hopeful the fl5 OEM hood can get the job done

This was very time consuming. Im going to test this aoon on a track day. If it overheats then ill have to add 1 more oil cooler on right side.
Hey brotha, I recommend you get some wire screen mesh suitable for vehicle usage and cover up the new hole you created for venting in the fender liner. Order one where the holes are being enough to allow air to full through feely but offer enough protection so some freak rock doesn't smash / puncture the cooler. Me personally I added mesh to the brake cooling exit hole, using some E6000 adhesive to hold the mesh on.

Small update for me is that my setup works good in that I have zero leaks. I've stressed test the oil cooler already. But still need to stress test the new mini radiator setup behind a quick 5 mile drive. Also going to wire up my glowshift oil temp / pressure gauge tomorrow. Let's see how the values from that gauge with the OEM Honda numbers.

Not sure if you’ve tracked your FL5 at RA yet, but I took my type s to RA last fall, there were a few other type Rs there and none over heated. Weather was around 70, and seems like this weekend will be nice. Think the high speed nature of the track will help keep you cool and you have oem intercooler. I had no concerns in my car and none of the owners were having issues.
At 70 degrees you won’t have an issue. It is when you get to the high 80’s and 90’s that it becomes a problem.

For what it's worth I personally never had need for a transmission cooler.

From what I've seen from others the hel cooler seems to not be very effective.
Got it. I still have it BNIB so will put it up for sale soon. Also seems like stock FMIC is the move, glad I didn’t pull the trigger on that.

If you want to go baller status the tube and fin pwr intercooler for 1800 would not inhibit cooling and is top tier with performance.

Haha.. honestly not in a rush. Seems like the community is testing various options and I’m a very novice track driver. The HEL cooler was an impulse buy since I was planning to track this summer but now I’m going to wait until the weather is cooler and seeing how it performs stock.

Check how it performs stock but the oil cooler will help if just a bit. Goal is to maintain oil temperatures as stable as possible.
