Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

I spoke to my guy on Friday and he had no new news. Was still pretty adamant that they would be getting 3-4 cars for the FL5 run. This is a smaller dealer in north GTA.

Come to think of it, my dealer asked me if I had any specific color I wanted back when I placed my deposit. I said White but would take whatever's available knowing its limited release.

I just called the dealer and they did say something about having placed orders with Honda already, but they don't know how many they're getting at all.

I guess I'll bug him a bit more if any news starts showing up...

At least yours asked you for a color, mine said not until they have pricing / programs for the Type R. I have to go back to get a real bill of sale when that happens. All I have on my BOS that says 2021 LE and hand written 2023 Type R deposit.

Got an update from 2 dealers. One of them is receiving 5 in total across 3 years and the other is 4 across 3 years.
Seeing all those Type R's sitting in the US ports where us Canadian's don't get much. Feelsbadman

They have 10x more people my guy. What never made sense to me was the Canadian LE allocation

No, I get it. If we scale it, makes sense but still doesn't hurt any less lol.

You better pray they get 2 cars, because you're the one who will get screwed. He's been on the waitlist longer for a Type R .....

I mean, another scenario is this person doesn't even exist and this is just a convenient excuse to sell it to one to a buddy who will turn around and sell it back to them after a month.

At this point I am just at the mercy of whatever goes on behind closed doors. I hope there is integrity in the process and sitting on a waitlist for 15 months is worth something, but I am not getting my hopes up.

Maybe now is a good time to check back in with your dealer? If mine heard they’re getting one car, maybe yours heard how many they’ll be getting?

I've been pretty diligent in staying in touch with them. If they heard something and decided not to contact me, probably not a good sign.

One dealer said they originally expected allocations of 8 in a 3 year run, but Honda Canada confirmed its 5 in a 3 year run this morning.

Supposedly the biggest dealer in my city but I guess they might sell more SUVs than Civics...

I'll bug the GM at another dealer tomorrow to see if they have similar news.

I received a call from the manager of my Honda dealership today. I didn't call them, they called me. He said they only get 2 cars for this first year and I will get one of them. He asked me what colour I wanted and I chose Championship White. No ETA and no pricing. Unfortunately, I will not disclose the dealership name for their protection and the protection of my allocation. Exciting times!

Congrats, ya I don't want to jynx it but I got same news today as well. I have chosen sonic grey for my top choice. I was lucky to be #1 on the list at my dealership and they are guaranteed one car for 2023.

Not gonna lie, I am a bit shocked I pretty much already lost hope for this year, but looks like it might happen after all.

My recommendation to all Canadians trying to get one, if you are not number 1 on the list at your dealership, email every dealership in your province right away and hopefully you get lucky. And if you are number 1, make sure you put in your deposit right away with your dealership.

Unpopular opinion but I am hoping the whole lottery system is legit here in Alberta. Going from 3rd spot to 10th it’s my best bet in getting one.

Doubt the lottery is happening on a consumer level. Seems like dealers did get an email about their allocations though, and one of which I spoke to said they'll start going down the list once they get pricing.
