I'm pretty set on the CTR at this point.

Today, my Dad came to visit me (He does once every year or two), and I always enjoy his perspectives and try to keep him up to speed on what I'm up to, as he does me with his life and projects.

I wanted him to at least sit in/see the car I am considering, so we found one local, used, at a Honda dealer. The sales rep all but forced us to go for a ride. My Dad didn't really want to, but I told him CTR's are never driven new, and only rarely used, until money is on the table, and that this was a very unique situation. Anyway, I really wanted to see how it drove, as the car was appearing 100% stock but was on DWS06+ tires. The exact tire I want to run, as the max performance summer tires here would be out of their element temp-wise a lot of the time, and would physically be destroyed in 0F weather we often get in the winter. I wanted to know if it "ruined" the car to run DWS06+ on them.

Well, it doesn't. The car hooked up GREAT on very aggressive shifting and acceleration in 1st and 2nd. Oddly, the sales rep solely drove. He wasn't abusive, but he made sure we smiled, and the test route was horrible pavement but with lots of good corners. When I say horrible pavement, I've been down alleys in border Mexico that were smoother. Honestly, I loved it. I wanted to see how the car behaved when driven out of its element, and the suspension in +R and Comfort was amazing. +R was stiff as all get out, but honestly not horrible. The potholes and bumps (It was asphalt over asphalt, with the shallow pot-hole type smorgasbord you get when the top layer de-laminates in the winter, horrible and rough, but not rim-bending territory) were soaked up very well in both modes, with Comfort feeling pretty composed. What stood out the most was the chassis rigidity and structural rigidity. The car felt very stiff and solid, similar to my 370Z, and very opposite my C6Z.

I rode in the back seat so my Dad could sit up front. Tons of room (I am 6' in shoes). Zero complaint. The only way this car is sub-3200# has to be due to the tiny engine and compact layout of FWD.

Even with 700# of grown adults in the car, it felt STRONG when he floored it. This definitely isn't a fast or quick car "in the scheme of things", but I will not get bored in it for lack of power, and I don't think it needs mods out of the box there.

I decided that nothing else is going to touch this in all the spheres it moves in (Cost to own, value retention, handling, "joy of driving", prestige/image (It isn't a rich man or successful man's car, but to those who know ball, the "R" does mean something), ease of mechanical work).

I gave the sales rep my name, email, and phone #. Told him when he gets a Boost Blue 2027 in, that I will pay MSRP, and plan to add the CF wing and the forged rims, and Alcantara steering wheel, and will pay regular dealer price without haggle on those. That's his dealer's profit margin + hold back. If that is too stiff a deal for him/them, I will buy elsewhere. Plane tickets are cheap, and I love a road trip, and I don't care when I buy it next year. We will see if he calls. Paying ADMs is something I refuse to do. I never have, and never will. Not during COVID on my RAV4 Prime, not on my 370Z that took months to find with all the options I wanted, not on either of my COVID era EV's, none of it. I'll line their pockets on accessories and sometimes a warranty, but "pay me money because I'm breathing" just ain't it for me.

My local dealer says they don't know when/what they will get, and they cannot order a CTR. They claim they are notified of what it is when it ships to them, and obviously when it arrives, but that's it. No color choice, nothing. They get what they get. Are they messing with me, or is this how CTR goes?

I know I ordered my Z06 and watched them build it, my RAV4 Prime I had to order and didn't get to see it built, my 370Z I had to have my dealer checking port deliveries daily until my spec combo arrived, and then "get it" before any other dealer did (usually like a 5 minute window), so I've seen it all, just curious if this is how Honda is with the CTR, or if my local dealer is trying to create a false pressure to try to get me to pay over MSRP (won't happen.)

CTR is allocation only. Boost Blue is one of the most common color made.

If the Dealer is charging you ADM, call a different Dealer who would do MSRP or below.

Not the official Honda inventory search, but some have used this to find one.
I don't think any US Dealer received a 2027 yet.

Honda and Toyota are allocation only for the most part in the US. You can order a Honda or Toyota in Japan because they don't operate the same way.

I love GM would let you build the engine of your own Corvette at one point if you pay extra.
